How to turn off seat belt extender on 17” coupe

Is there a way to turn off the seat belt extender arm on the coupe? I’ve looked around for the past 48 hrs but I’m unable to find a solution for this.

Isn't there a button close the the touch pad. I remember seeing a picture and wondering what that button was. Below the auto start stop button

I don't think there is. The button on the console just lets you extended manually by depressing the button. Its not an on off switch.

bump this, anyone know? I’m tall enough where I don’t need the seatbelt brought up to me, and it drives me crazy moving around every time I close the door, especially when I’m not even in the car.

You can remove the arm. Mine came off and that how I know. To be honest, I didn’t appreciated this feature until I bought the M4. My arm and body hurt each time I have to twisted my body and arm just to reach for the seat belt on the M4.

Thanks for the response,

Just remove the whole arm from the assembly? Won’t the mechanism still move just without the arm on it?

Yes. It still move but without the arm. On my car, they removed the arm to removed the rear panel to removed the rear glass (convertible version). They put everything back but they got to snap the arm back in. It was just hanging loose at the bottom of the seat belt.

I’m 5’11” and I have the seat almost all the way back in my cabriolet and the reach back to the pillar where the seatbelt rests is a good 4-5 inches behind my shoulder so that extender is really useful to me. I love that feature quite frankly.
