Michelin PS4 tire pressure

So the Dunlop sport maxx tires were toast. I had put Michelin PSS on my 13 c63, so I decided to try the new PS4 Michelin. When tires were installed, I noticed the pressure on the fronts were 48 and the rears were 45. Seems a little high to me. Wanted to know if those who have these tires are running similar pressures. If not, where should I be for best performance. So far, new tires are like riding on carpet !!!

48/45 is the correct OEM recommended pressure for C63s according to the door jam.

48/45 is way too high. It will ride like crap and you'll have no traction.
Try 36/34

It really depends on the application and preference. If you use the recommended specs per OEM, you get better MPG and longer tread wear. If you under inflate it, sure you get a better ride and more traction, but then you lose on MPG and your tread will wear way faster.

So it really depends on what you're doing at what time.

Inflate to the recommended pressures on the freaking drivers door jam.. These are COLD pressures. I always check mine in the early morning. I like 65f have a nice little air compressor and a Good gauge.. Remember four little patches of rubber between you and disaster

That is way too high and only meant for the EPA. Use the numbers on the back of the gas door and use your load and speed.
That means for most of us most of the time 38 front and 33 rear.
I just put on one size up Mich. Pilot 4S and Had the Americas Tire guy check in his computer if the recommended pressure was any different.
It shows the same for the original PSS and the one up size P4S.
From cold to hot at normal speeds you will get about 3 degrees increase and more with more speed or track /canyons.
I am going to try 39-34 and watch wear. It was quite even on the old ones except the front inner wear many are seeing from camber.

Gas door also says 48/45 on mine for 180mph which means the S version and max load of 4-5 people which I do 70% of the time. So it is the correct setting for that application.

Sounds about right
How do you find 4-5 people to ride with you 70% of the time.

Not 100% sure if the MPH means the version you have because the C63 is limited to 155MPH so 150 round off and the C63s is limited to 185MPH so 180 round off. That's how I read it as.

Yeah recently went to the dealer because my tires were reading mid 30's for pressure. Dealership said that's a good tire pressure. mid 40's really sounds too high... But the gas cap lid absolutely does say mid 40's somehow.

I usually set the pressure to 38/33 + 1 PSI for every 10 deg. F we are above what I feel will be the coldest temperatures will be in the short/medium term.

So if I'm checking and it's 90 deg. F and it looks like all the evenings are going to be a cool 60 deg. for the next while, I'll add +3 PSI and set for 41/36.

That way, the pressures are never low and the car will be set for any high speed runs.

Im a noob here with tire pressures.

My rear tires are almost shot (PSS) and i want to switch to the P4S in the rear (+front when those are done).

1) Is it okay to have the 2 different tires on front and rear?

2) if its mainly 2 people in my car, what should the tire pressures be? I think mine are 34/36 right now?

Adjusted pressures down and seems to be better. Car is a daily driver, definetly no autobahn where I live, and never any passengers. So, tires seem better. Thanks for all input!!

1. It's not ideal, but it's OK. You'll probably feel a little more understeer going that route since the rears will be stickier than the front's.

I'm personally going to go wider in the front and the back [probably 255/35-19 front and 275/35-19 (or even 285/35-19) back]. So I'm going to change all 4 tires at once and keep the front's in storage for when the time comes to sell the car.

2. Pressures should be 38/33 (F/R) cold (as per lid on fuel filler door). The front's should be higher than the back. Your pressure's are way off.

You are right on with 38/33 cold with 2-3 people and up to 155 mph --tires I just removed wore evenly across the face and it rides much better. (don't do the 48/45 as it is just crazy high and for EPA only.

I just put on the 255/275 Mich P4S on mine and have not had time to use much yet.
I would say stay with 275 on rear if using stock wheels as it will keep the ratio front and rear the same so the ESP won't be seeing a difference.

So basically up the front and rear by 10?
