Question I hate making this type of thread but.... what should I pay on an ordered C63s coupe?

MSRP when the car is configured is $86,250.

Based on my research I have read that dealers will get 12% on the car..meaning MSRP is 6% above wholesale and there is an additional 6% hold back. So If I am offering the dealer $78.7K ( 9% off MSRP) for a car they simply have to order, am I asking for too much off the MSRP?

I hate playing these stupid games. Consumer tries to get the best price for them. Dealer tries to get the best price for their stakeholders. It just ends up with a lot of back and forth communication and wasted time.

It depends where you live sometimes. Warm weather states get more allotments, and can perhaps deal more. Colder states get fewer slots and maybe won't discount as much. Custom configured? Maybe less. Good luck with your purchase!

I am in SoCal. One dealer ( Mercedes-Benz of Calabasas) just laughed at me over the phone when I said I wouldn't pay MSRP... I won't even bother trying them for anything more in the future.

I guess I can buy nationally and have it shipped..but that's a lot of calling around

You are in a much tougher spot when ordering a new car and are more likely to get them to budge if the car is already on the lot.

Either way, come in with your own financing already secured (be it cash, loan, etc.) and make an offer understanding that most dealerships expect to make $5k minimum on these kind of cars. If the guy/gal you are negotiating with has to "go and talk to the manager", end the conversation with that person and ask to talk to the person with the decision making capacity. If you get any push-back at that point be ready to walk.

C63 AMG S Coupe (Sept. 2017)
Went to three dealers and talked to the sales managers and while polite, said they sell the coupe within hours of arrival. I paid sticker with a slight discount from USAA. Nearly 90k for
my configuration.

Plan on full sticker with a custom order.

Yes I think you are expecting too much of a discount.
I have been made to believe there is only 10% total to the dealer including holdback.
There are other discounts if you qualify such as fleet discount and ED on Germany made cars. Also the AMG Private Lounge discount.
Why would a dealer give up most of his profit on a allocation for a car that he gets very few.

I just got back from Bakersfield Benz and agreed on 8% off my $86K build, if you are willing to make the drive, feel free to PM me, I'll direct you to the salesman that helped me

Based on what I'm reading, 5% is average, 8%, I couldn't say no. I actually was negotiating a C43 AMG last week (tried to get 10% but they were firm at 8%) then you guys convinced me of getting the 63S so he honored the same discount on my 63S.

This is a common line and rarely true - granted it may depend on where you live.

This C63S has been for sale in Austin, TX for well over a month...

USAA car buying service is great for both new and used cars.

2017 AMG c63s
I found there to be a big difference between the Coupe (c63s) and the Sedan(c63s) discounts. I live in SoCal and easily found 8% on Sedans but could not get anywhere near that for the Coupe.
I went to Calabasas, Van Nuys and Beverly Hills. I ended up getting a $87,975 MSRP Coupe for $86,975. I was Ok with it becasue I felt the car was worth it and could not be happier with the purchase. This was back in February and the Coupe was pretty new so it might be different now that it has been out for longer.

*I did hated the way all the MB dealerships negotiated. They all tried to pull the "how much do you want to pay per month."
If you are going to finance the car my advice is to get the loan in advance. As for Buy vs Purchase, AMG's do not lease well. I could have gotten a Porsche 911s for the monthly payment fo the AMG.

I paid stick for mine and it's custom order coupe. they agree to a 6% discount on one of the c63s on the lot, couldn't get the 8-10% discount even on the sedan. But the car is worth every penny despite some external build quality problems

I got 4% on mine... I get paid for the job that I do and it's ok for the folks at the dealership to be able to make a living as well.

Hey, care to elaborate? For us future buyers, to know what to look for, in case we miss it. This would be especially helpful for in-stock cars. Thanks.
