Im leaving this forum for the dark side: 2018 E63S in Night Black Magno!!!!
From the other forum here... after 1 year with the C63S I moved on to this... lets just say that if a car lasts one year with me, its damn well worthy. I loved my C63S but the allure of the E63S and what it was bringing to table from a performance/handling and luxury level just called my name. I will of course still be checking in here daily because some of the best members reside in this section and your cars are all so brilliant!!
Here is my post:
Well I decided to get the ED1 after all, I had a better deal on a white one but the dealer (who is a top regional seller) got a hidden allocation on an ED1 still at the VPC. So that was that and I went last Sunday to get it. Here is a funny story though: The Salesman comes up to me and asks "Vic, you like Pirellis or Michelins?" and I say of course "Michelins". He then told me I was in luck because they found a huge piece of metal in the left rear tire and it was now flat. Instead of replacing the tire which they did not have, they swapped out a set of black wheels that was on the white one that I was going to get in the first place . And of course, this set had the 4S tires- so I got lucky.
The car feels every bit as fast as advertised and the handling is shocking for the weight of this car. No wonder it turned out the time it did at VIR with such amazing exit speeds. The car is dropped with the OEM links; my tech in Huntington Beach is adept at such mods and it took all of 45 min to make it happen. The car is very taut but also very level with hardly any roll- I run the Sport setting for the dampers (one light). The throttle is a bit slow as it takes about a 50% input to get it moving, but that's also because I'm used to tuned cars where the throttle is more sensitive. The steering is good with mild, very mild, understeer in hard bends and turns and I can not believe this car weighs over 4500 lbs they way it moves and how I am able to drive it. I have had limited miles with the car so I need even more to give further perspective but for now its definitely one of the best handling sedans I've owned, if not the best. I have the acoustic package which makes the exhaust note inside more muted which I don't like. When we were under the car we checked to see what we could remove from a resonator standpoint and there just aren't any. It looks like its similar to my GTS set up with just a post cat attached to the DP. I think I might pull that off at some point.
I will say that my current RS7 with a tune feels just slightly faster from a roll and is more violent from a dig but the car is pushing 700 hp and 725+ lb/ft of torque.
Some minor mods:
Painted front grill (plasti dip)
Wrapped door handles
Wrapped Rear Bar
30% Tint
Lowering
15mm front spacers (I need smaller rears still)
Xpel Stealth Clear Bra
Big thanks to Benzworks (sponsor here) for lowering the car and installing the spacers. The pics are from my cell phone so I'm sure I can do better

Wrong forum... can a mod move this thread?
I'm just kidding, that E63S is a beast, and based on your history, I'm surprised the C63S lasted as long as it did. Actually, I'm not surprised, the C63S is a damn fun car, and honestly, I'd probably be happy with about three or four of AMG's current models.
Have fun, even if I secretly hate you.

Congratulations brother! - Well done, that is an awesome spec and already modded tastefully (would not expect anything less).
Interesting regarding the lowering... seems like a good option rather than changing out the springs to HAS or Coilovers.

Congrats Vic! That E63s Edition1 is a monster. I am so jealous.
Glad you weren't too impacted by the fires. Our neighbor's sister home burned down on Canyon Heights Dr.

Congratulations Vic, you hit it out of the park with the spec and mods.
Would you say that the E63s is more fun to drive then the c63s Coupe? If you had to choose just one and it was for daily driving which would you choose?

Too early probably to judge as my seat time has been limited with the E but the AWD system really makes it easy to mash and go. The exhaust notes are very similar but the steering in the E feels better with less electronic intrusion and the handling at higher speeds would be a close win for the E. So I would chose the E but then again its brand new; the C63S arguably has a more aggressive stance but the Night Black Magno paint helps with the 4 door.

Vic, how would you characterize the difference in cabin noise from the C63 sedan, C63 coupe, and E63 sedan? I drove an E400 coupe, and it wasn't that quiet, but definitely quieter than the C63 sedan (haven't driven a coupe). But wasn't impressed with the regular suspension, so need to drive one with the air suspension. Problem is apparently no E63 coupe. Might have to consider a sedan. Thanks.

Very nice indeed Vic, congratulations on the new car!
Looks pretty mean in Magno black, certainly has the right look for a normally understated performance car!
Enjoy in good health mate

great car no doubt, but I would not trade my c because I love the size of the c class. JMO. really these are two different types of vehicles. Sports GT, versus, high power sedan. Good luck on your new ride.
