In place of the valved H pipe? If I rememer correctly our car has 2 h pipes one being valved. I was thinking of doing a x pipe instead of the valved H since my valve was squeaking anyway but I didn' know how it would sound with the x and second h pipe.

Hey mate thanks for the input! I was looking at perf exhaust stock looks like we are running H pipe. YES 2 H pipe! I tried google and mostly straight pipes running on c63s. Did you delete your cats?

Hey mate just got my car back. so happy with secondary CAT delete!! more pops when you down shift & you can tell the sound is a bit aggressive than perf stock! am still thinking about the XPipe. The shop recommend me to do it instead of straight pipe. I just want to find out if anyone here running that set up

I think your car will be quieter if you do an x-pipe. I don't have experience on this car but that's how it was on my 2014 c63.

Someone always has to be the first to try something. As far as I known ipe is the only one making a exhaust for the c63s that Includes a x pipe. Obviously it has mufflers so that also makes it sound different.

took the muffler off on my car. Sounds great way to much drone and it also somewhat flattens the sound of the downshifts. If you want to try it out it is just a few bolts 5-10 mins off/ back on.

hmm... Maybe I'll give it a shot... Definitely don't want drone -- want what in sue everyone wants: same character, just much much louder haha

If you remove the muffler mate you lose the valve too? Off and on?

yes if you take the muffler off you can no longer control volume it will just be ridiculously loud 100% of the time. Also if you are doing it for any extended period of time and you have the performance exhaust you would need to buy valve simulators from awe to keep the car from going into low power mode.

I have a secondary delete with straight pipe. I got my axle-back custom fabricated with curves and hangers to fit just like my stock performance exhaust design. With the secondary cat delete, I would say that the volume got louder by 10% than stock. With the straight pipe, I would say that the car got louder by +80%. I don't mind the drone as I don't do much long distance traveling on this car and I don't think the drone is that bad since I always drive loud cars.
Before I got my custom exhaust, I ran my car with open mid-pipe and the issue with this set up is that there was too much interior vibration.
As for the differences between x-pipe and h-pipe in terms of sound, h-pipe will make a lower toned exhaust note versus an x-pipe will make a higher pitched exhaust note. Although there won't be any performance benefits until you tune your car for specific mid-pipe (h-pipe and x-pipe), h-pipe will get you more tq in the bottom end versus an x-pipe will get you higher end tq. In terms of performance, people prefer an x-pipe but that all depends on preference.

I did an X-pipe and then a double X-pipe (one at the front after front resonator delete, and one at the back after centre resonator delete) on my Audi RS5 4.2 V8. On that car it made it sound amazing. It essentially changed the muscle car rumbly sound to more of a refined note - kind of like an aggressive scream. The volume was intense, but only when accelerating harder. It was surprisingly comfortable during normal driving with the valves open. The X-pipe on the front with a centre resonator had a little drone at cruise acceleration at low RPM, but with the second X-pipe (resonated) in the rear, all drone was removed. However, I'm scared to do it on my C63S because that rumble is characteristic of the car and I like it. The car is way too loud after I fitted carless downpipes, and it did make it raspy, so I'm thinking of fitting some Borla resonators just to take some edge off it and mellow down some of the rasp.

I have an extra H pipe from a 17' C63s sedan, if anyone is interested in keeping their OEM intact.

I'm in CA.
