Kind of bummed out by C63s vs E63s numbers
Watching the Oscars I saw a commercial that said the new 2018 E63s sedan has 603 HP (and does 0-60 in 3.3 sec, but the quarter in C63s-like times). Damn, couldn't MBZ-AMG have dialed in another HP. An E63s with 603 seems like a slap in the face to a C63s with 503. Granted, as far as I hear so far, there will not be an E63s coupe (and I have a C63s coupe on order). And then there is the base MSRP of $104,400 for the E63s ....
Looking into how the E63s gets its 603 HP I discovered that it uses different chargers and charger locations, so upgrading a C63s into E63s-like spec will not be a mere chip change and instead will involve very non-trivial mechanical parts and work. Damn twice over.

I don't see any of us complaining that it's a slap in the face. The C costs less than the E. Given it's just a few bolt-ons plus tune to get the same base engine to the E's power output, it's absolutely encouraging to see the factory taking the motor to higher power outputs. It means we can safely go that route in the aftermarket.
As it stands right now, a piggyback/ECU tune is all you need to get to the E's power output.

LOL!
Why would Mercedes make the E63S's power numbers similar to the C63S's? So that they could cannibalize their own sales?
If the power and performance was the same, less people would be willing to pay the premium to move up to the E63S.
The whole point is to create that separation so that you think "Wow, I love my C63S, now I have a growing family and am making more money so it's time to upgrade to the E63S and get that extra POWER!"

You need to cancel your C63 order right now bro and fork up the extra $30k for the E63s. Just do it bro you're missing out on 100 hp.
And while you're at it PayPal me $1,000 for giving you this fantastic idea. Thanks!

Go post at the e63s section and ask them who's upgrading from a e63 to a tuned/bolt-on c63s lol.
Why not buy a c43 coupe instead. Tuned/bolt-on ones are faster than a 63 in 0-60 and similar 1/4s.
You probably made one of the worst investment for buying an Amg for drag.

As noted above the C43 with software tune only and still far less power/torque than a C63 stock will run similar numbers to the stock C63.
Maybe hold out for the next gen C63, it looks pretty definite it'll feature some form of AWD.

OP:
The '19s with the new 9 speed and potential power bump will help
If you bought a much more expensive E63S you wouldn't be too happy if a lowly (lol) C63S was just as fast/powerful

There will always be something newer, better, faster etc. The E63 doesn't compare, its a much larger car with AWD, and also cost substantially more.
I would be more pissed off if the face-lift W205 C63s gets 603 Hp and AWD, bc that would destroy my resale. However unlikely that is.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. For me I prefer the way the C-Class Coupe drives and it a totally different the the E-Class.
The 4.0 V8 biturbo is found in more cars then I can count now has HP range of 503-603 depending on the car. The E, G, S and AMG GT, even the Aston Martin Vantage and DP11 are running the same motor. The Astons are both at 503 HP.
FYI-you can get 600+ HP with a tune on your coupe.

You can add all the power in the world but if it's RWD then it's going to struggle against an AWD car off the line.
If a lack of AWD is bothering you then maybe it's worth holding out for an E63S or switching to an RS5.

OK, some of my points were missed by some; and some of your points are well taken.
I want a coupe and I would not purchase an E class AMG anyway. $$$ are not the issue, if I want to spend that much I would be driving a Nissan GTR right now. So I was bust whining. After driving in the AMG Challenges for many years and getting two E's side ways at 80mph+, and having the accelerator stick in an S65, I do not want anything heavier than a C-class in high performance tune.

Hang in a wait a little while longer, the new mid life update C63 is not too far away and as far as high performance tune goes it's looking promising as it may come with the E63's twin scroll turbos just like the updated C43 now features the turbos from the E43 and as has been stated by many printed articles, if this eventuates a software tune alone will please most
