C63s sedan or C63s coupe

C63s sedan or C63s coupe
My wife and I are going to custom order a C63s this weekend. We have two kids age 6 and 3. We want the coupe but are worried that we'll have a hard time putting the kids in their car seats. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a 6 and a 1.5 years old. Booster with the 6 is not a problem. She prefers riding in the coupe than our SUV. However, with our bigger Britax car seat, we have to tilt it to take out since it's too wide. My wife is uncomfortable on the idea of tilting the seat with a toddler inside. Bring both your kids and try out a coupe first.
If you are set on the looks of the Coupe, I wouldn't compromise and get a sedan. Imo, they look quite different.

I have no kids and just drive myself around all day. I still went with the sedan. For me, I'm not a fan of two doors. If I was in your situation though, the decision is simple.....sedan all day long. WAY more convenient.

I have two kids 5 & 2 and do the weekly school/daycare drop off easily. I actually find it quite easy to get them in/out, especially seeing the older one is in a booster and can sort out his belt, plus help unclick the younger one.
I was in the exact same position but went the coupe due to the looks, plus we have a SUV for other trips when we need the additional storage space. I think it comes down to that really, whether you will have issues with fitting other things in than just the kids, or if you have other options for that e.g 2nd car

For my family, under the circumstance described, a sedan in a no brainer, especially if the car becomes a primary means of transporting the kids. If the vehicle transports the kids 1% of the time, get what you like.

I just moved from a 2013 C350 Sedan to a 2018 C63S Sedan. The seat in the Coupe is slightly lower than the Sedan and the doors, door pillar and such were just located differently. I originally wanted the Coupe but just wasn't comfortable in it on a test drive. Sat in the Sedan at a different dealer and fell in love with the designo quilted Napa brown saddle leather. Ordered my car 11/3 and it was built 3/14 and delivered 3/23. Coupes are built in Germany, Sedans are assembled in Alabama with the engine/trans coming from Germany after being built there. As far as I can see the fit, finish and paint are flawless on mine.

I don't know where you live, but the third option is the convertible (my choice). I have four kids that sit in back (6, 6, 7, 7) and they can also safely sit in front (car recognizes the kid and turns off the airbag).
We don't have any issues getting them in and out.
And the convertible is AMAZING.

Coupe or nothing for me... my kids are a bit older at 11 and 13 so it’s easier. The coupe just looks great. If I needed 4 doors I’d personally get an M3 (which is what I had before the C63S)

I suspect this is going to be a difficult choice for me when I actually go to start test driving (once the 2019 models become available.) On the one hand the coupe looks great and I don't really need the 4 doors (it's just me and my wife in my family) but the sedan has that whole "sleeper" thing going for it and I have heard it is quieter and more comfortable at highway speeds which becomes important to me on long drives. I honestly don't know which will appeal to me more until I actually test drive them both, preferably on the same day.

The "sleeper" aspect you mention of the sedan has great appeal to me. There's something to be said for a 190mph four door.
It's like my Harley Davidson Road King classic. It has wide white walls, spoke wheels and 150hp at the rear wheel. MANY sport bikes have been embarrassed by my "old man" bike.
In totality, the coupe may be the bigger swingin' d!@k but functionality and everyday useability are really won by the sedan.

Regarding the sedan, I know a few members have specced it with just the steel roof but the current models all show sunroof as standard. Was the steel roof only an option on the early model years?

I have a 2018. Delivered two weeks ago actually. Delete was not an option. Pano was. I really like the car. VERY comfortable, in Comfort about an edgy a daily driver as a senior would want. LOL, and can't wait to get 1000 miles on it so I can see whether I like Sport, Sport + or other settings for my around town stuff. I can tell you crossing about 1750 rpm in almost any of the lower gears, with a little push of the gas pedal makes all hell, including the rear tires, break lose. Pretty car with a Truly Bad *** Benz Soul.

Sedan all the way.
I actually like it because it doesn't stand out too much, but with the wheels and stuff, just enough. There are some really fast sedans out there, but it's still fun to run a sub 12 sec 1/4 mile with 4 doors and fit my family of 5. Also depends on your situation. I enjoy having the extra room for a double or more friends or whatever. A couple won't fit adults in the back very well.

The standard sun roof is just fine AFAIC. Compared to my 2013 C350 it is much larger. I already had the car tinted, including a very light tint heat UV barrier on the windshield, and may go back and have them tint the sun roof as well. It's OK now while we are still low 80's here in South Florida but in a few weeks that will become low to mid 90's and move towards even hotter in the summer months. June to early September it will be 100 to 103 on the highway mid-day and I'd rather lositen to the music rather than the fans working hard.

Yeah that car is a great spec in terms of exterior and interior color and trim. I don't think you could do much better with a sedan, honestly.

If I had a choice, and money was no object, get the S. I got a C63 NON-S because I found a deal and drove both. I drove the S at a Mercedes dealership 2 hours prior to buying mine and I asked the sales guy about how they "FEEL" and what did HE nortice? He told me to be honest, I can't not tell any difference in the C63 vs. C63S. That was his honest answer. The "S" I believe is in real life and on paper, a tenth (.10) of a second faster 0-60, but that wouldn't be noticeable SOTP. I like the colored calipers LOOK personally. However, I plan to eventually get mine painted and they will look the same. The will not be quite as LARGE or as Goo performance wise, but, I am not tracking the car and won't miss it. You can take off Calipers and get them professionally painted where they look Perfect. Then get a sticker so they look stock, then clearcoat over that.
I have a Eurochraged Tune on the Way. It's the same tune as an "S" would get. So after the tune, my car should be the same HP/TQ as a Tuned C63 S. The S I was looking at was $25,000 more out the door with same mileage BUT it was a CPO, so I made a decision that it wasn't worth the extra cash. I could take that money, get a tune, paint calipers, and maybe do an exhaust if one ever comes out that is awesome and doesn't change the original tone of the awesome C63 exhaust.
The one thing I don't like about my C63 is the VOLUME of the exhaust. Performance exhaust is much better, but even the performance exhaust on the newer W205 Bi-Turbo, could use MORE Volume. The NA C63 has the best sound of the 2.
