New Owner, Coming from 6 BMWs in a Row
Hey guys! Well -- i made the switch. I'm coming from a background of only BMW. Literally, my friends knew me as the BMW guy and are all in shock that i replaced my 2015 M3 with a 2017 C63 Convertible. It was a leftover model that the dealer took $15,000 off MSRP, so it was hard to say no!. Believe it or not, i actually had a 2018 M4 Competition package on order, and the car is in transit to the USA right now. Need to call my salesman at BMW and cancel that asap
I'm having a bit of buyers remorse, so here's where you guys convince me that this was the RIGHT move. The car is getting some Suntek PPF installed right now, looking forward to driving it later this week. My current stable still has an ///M car in it -- 2012 X5M. Here are a few photos

I had 2 M3's before my C63S.
The M3 is definitely more agile, but you really had to push it hard to enjoy the car.
The C63S is definitely more fun overall because you can enjoy it even while slowing down for a red light and hearing the ridiculous exhaust note. And unlike the M3, it's not fake exhaust noise via the speakers. LOL
Lastly, the interior is no contest. Every BMW interior looks pretty much the same. On the other hand, the C63S interior is WAYYYY nicer, it's not even close.

Congrats! M4 comp pack is a great car, but kind of a different car compared to a C63 convertible. I think of AMGs as more of big power highway cruisers who can handle the corners if you throw some at it, while the M4 is a canyon carver but not a hardcore track weapon. I'm a bit biased though, I choose AMG over M every time.

I'll agree with that. I had a lot of fun with the M3, most of it being when i was pushing it and driving more aggressively than i should be on public roads.
The C63 feels much more refined, much more 'special', and very much well built. I have creaks, rattles, squeaks, etc in my M3 (which i still have for a few more months). It's just been a difficult conversion for me.

I've owned many different brands over the years, and I've always enjoyed the variety.

Nice looking car you decided to buy! Let us know what the main differences are as I'm sure many users on this board are considering BMW M-models every now and then. Thanks in advance!

Had a '15 M4 before my '18 C63S coupe.
M4 handled better, had much better transmission, and rode better. Service with my M4 was also included in the warranty as was the in-vehicle internet and BMW's version of Mbrace.
My AMG sounds way better, has more power, and has a much nicer interior. MB nickle and dimes you on all routine services and extra on-board features.
All in all, I am happy with my AMG, but not sure I am really getting the extra $20K in value.

Did you not get prepaid maint?
The reason i did this was because it ended up actually being the same price as the M4 I had ordered (even though the Merc leases way worse), so it became a game of "what the hell, let's try it out"

No matter how you slice it, your dark grey C63 with black convertible top and two tone interior is drop dead gorgeous.
Can't imagine any way to not fall in LOVE with this car.

Congrats! Car looks beautiful.
I'm a big fan of different driving experiences and you can't get that sticking with the same brand. Just bought my first Mercedes (C63S sedan) and it's a really fun car to drive. I have the same interior and initially thought I wouldn't care for it but have really grown to love it. Have fun!

This is a great point and worth mentioning. Most auto makers have at least a couple of great cars in their stable so for a true enthusiast it is worth looking around and not being too attached to any brand or company. I love Porsche and am a member of the club but have owned and enjoyed Infiniti/Nissan, Lexus, BMW, Ford, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Porsche, etc over the years and am strongly considering a C63 for my ride once the 2019's start showing up at the dealerships next year. I would rather shop and buy a great car regardless of the brand name attached to it than restrict myself to just one or two makers.

completely opposite experience when it comes to 'very well built' for me. i came from 4 BMW's and still have a '12 e92 M3. all of my BMW's have been solid build quality, and this '18 C63S has been full of rattles, creaks, squeaks, etc. nevertheless, both cars have its pros and cons.
My C63S sport seats squeak a bit, and the seat belt buckle rattles against the side of the seat. But when the exhaust is cracklin', I don't even notice. LOL

Congrats OP. I'm sure you won't need any convincing after you get to drive it more, it is an epic car!

Well i've had the car a total of 10 days, and I've driven it 2 times.
First week spent getting clear film. now its in the service department getting a new convertible roof. I really hope this isn't a sign of what is to come....
