Pops and crackles

That's a good question, and one I've been trying to find an answer for myself. At this point, I don't know, but there is a strong possibility that the 2020s will be quieter and the 2021s even quieter. The noise limits get progressively lower every year until they reach the target of 68 dBa, however, I currently don't know if every model year is subject to the new limits or only when the manufacturers release a new generation or do a mid cycle refresh.

I haven't been following this too closely as I'm in the camp that exhaust is just fine.
This article was in my feed, says. AMG person quoted that future models in all regions will be quieter.

Im not sure why that ****** remove before race pretended to care about this issue briefly months ago. Oh yeah I do know why. Because he was in cahoots with MB knowing GOD DAMN well the press car he was reviewing wasn’t going to be what the production car sounded like. He’s just as guilty as MB and in most cases more guilty considering how many people made buy decision based off his ****stick breeding videos.

Thing is if you watch his videos as reference points of buying a car, then well, you deserve what you are getting into kind off. They are painfully biased. His channel is basically, " *Enter model of AMG car* is the greatest car ever made since sliced bread".

2019 vs. earlier exhaust sound
Below is part of an article from CarAdvice discussing the A45 and CLA45 exhaust changes for 2019 due to the new noise regs. and particulate filter required in Europe.
Since the C63 Coupes are made in Germany, I wonder if the same holds true for them imported into the U.S.
Would be interested to compare MB dealer part numbers for 2019 exhaust components vs. 2017-2018. If different, then you have your answer.
And, if anyone with a 2019 can see the particulate filters in their system (even if the build invoice didn't have them listed).
*****************
The head of product planning for AMG compact cars, Bastian Bogenschutz, told the publication that “The regulations were getting pretty difficult for the sound to just come from the exhaust system, so we added the AMG pure performance sound, there we take the real sound from the exhaust system, the pulsation of the real sound and move it inside the car. It works together with the exhaust system.”
Unfortunately, this will apply globally as it would have been too costly to design a different exhaust unit for different regions and/or countries.
The other aspect of the exhaust note that has largely disappeared is the crackles and pops you’d from the previous car on lift-off, with Bogenshutz admitting the two cars are now very different when it comes to engine and exhaust note.
CarAdvice does add that the new A 45 is a little louder than the CLA 45 because of its chassis style.

I've always suspected that the particulate filter was probably installed on all cars. Just because it isn't listed on non-European build sheets doesn't mean it's not on the car. The absence of evidence is not evidence. I hope someone can visually identify where in the exhaust system the particulate filter lies and determine if we have it. I imagine it's part of the catalytic converter.
Another way in addition to ahesq's ideas is to compare the exhaust system part numbers for the 2019 models, Europeans cars vs American cars. Those part numbers should be different if we don't have the particulate filter.

Took delivery, drove it a couple of weeks then sold it. The sound really is not as advertised vs the videos we all saw of the 2019 press cars on youtube. Sound is a big factor for me, so when I found myself driving my GLE63S more then my new C63s i knew it had to go. Looking for a mint ED1 now or a like new 18, or other options.

wouldn't it have been better to just test drive one first? can't imagine the financial hit you took...maybe you can afford it.
