Pops and crackles
I just got my car (C63s Coupe) back from the dealer after requesting to upgrade engine, tranny, and map softwares.
Honestly, I do not think the exhaust got any louder and the pops/crackles are the same.
How frequent do you guys hear the pops and crackles?
For me, if I put the dynamic select to sport +, it pops and crackles ONLY when I manually downshift or crank up the RPM to 5-6k and let the throttle go.

Hey guys! I'm @rokenr from instagram (remove before race channel on YouTube).
Finished running in my facelift C63S Coupe this week, and can confirm a huge difference between this delivered car and the press cars I drove in June at Bilsterberg. If any of you have seen that video, you'll note the difference is pronounced, namely:
In Sport+/Race:
- Quieter sound generally
- Less bangs/pops on overruns/letting off throttle. Occurring only in a very specific rev range (4500/5000)
- Stand still revs, car stops banging after 3-4 initially revs. Needs a break before starting again.
- Worst of all: ZERO bangs/pops/emotion on down shifts
I'm making enquiries within AMG right now and will feed back to anyone who cares, my understanding is this is a software issue where the ECU has been tinkered with incorrectly. My guess would be a fix will come for this eventually, but I can only make a guess for now.
Anyone having the same problem is welcome to DM me on instagram, I'm making a list of cars with build dates and countries to help the guys address this ASAP.
p.s.
Heres the video if anyone wants to confirm:

Drove a base 911 Targa 4 with sports exhaust, and that mother f^{*]! was popping all. over. the. place. Put my car to shame. I dropped it at the dealer for another issue and asked if they would check if the updates have been applied.

Comfort has no pops or cracks.

Only in S+ and past 4K RPMs on overrun for me. Maybe 3 crackles. Maybe.

The other 911 are no match in sound... the Golf R pops for days too

So you guys are testing for the correct tune based on revving it in park? Cuz I tested it while in motion, would drop gears, get on the gas (in Sport+) up to 4K, then let off, and I'd get 1-2 backfires TOPS. I'd get about 4 backfires pretty regularly if I let off at 4500 though... Now I'm gonna try this today while stationary...

I recently had my software updated and the pops are definitely louder. It pops really loud on downshifts in S+ and Race. All other modes it sounds same as before. I don't have the Perf exhaust btw. 100% stock.

completely agree.....previous owner of 991.1 S and 991.1 base.....both with the Porsche sports exhaust. louder than Porsche stock exhaust yes, lower tone as well.......lots of crackles and pops? maybe some higher pitched ones but nothing that comes close to the c63s.

I brought my 2016 car in a few weeks ago and showed them the Xentry bulletin and all that...and the dealership said they did the update. After I picked the car up, it sounded like it was done. But more recently, I don't get the same number of pop/crackles as some of y'all.
Since picking up, I did have an independent shop check/clear all codes to try to eliminate that low voltage issue some users have noted.
Anyone else had this? Thinking of taking back for another separate issue and having them double check that the update was done.
Does anyone know what software version to check for in Xentry?
Thanks!

Dob, here ya go: https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....&postcount=118
So I guess all of our engine software & gearbox software versions (for the US) should match?? My versions are NOT the same as yours according to the Xentry my independent shop pulled.
Hmmmm.... thoughts?
Will take your versions to the dealership next time as well when I ask them to double check it.

(In that thread as well) there's an early version/initial release. The one I linked you to is the final version (hence why it says Version 2, and under "Reason for Change" it says "Cleanpoint entered").

What does "Cleanpoint Entered" mean?
