XPEL Protective Film
I'm planning to have XPEL applied, and I'm torn between the clear/gloss film and the matte film. The new AMG will be Iridium Silver with the night package, CF spoiler, and panoramic roof.
Does anyone here have experience with XPEL, or other protectant films? Any thoughts on gloss vs. matte? I'm leaning toward matte, but haven't seen a matte Iridium Silver first hand.
Also, the quoted price for the film and tint + install is $5900 for clear or $6400 for matte. I'm told it will take four business days to install the film. Does anyone here with experience have an opinion on the reasonableness of the price or the time it will take?
Thanks in advance. Been lurking on the forum here for a while. Lots of good information here.
XPEL is the best film available -
The price sounds right -
Matte or clear is your call -
Enjoy the drive -
Thank-You

Very nice! That's helpful, thank you. Your car looks very sharp. Are you still 100% satisfied with your decision to go stealth?
My 63s is a sedan as well. It will have the black forged wheels, and the red brake calipers (I actually like the yellow/gold better, but couldn't justify the added cost).
With the night package, I'll also have black trim around the windows, but the silver actually looks really great with the matte paint.
I've got zero regrets. I loved it so much, I had the 911 and the Model X both wrapped in PPF too.
Custom is way better than precut if you have an experienced installer. They will make sure there's zero gloss showing, which is hard for the matte wrap.

Or is it made tough to withstand all kinds of things?
I love the matte look, but not looking to "worry" about the paint all the time. Especially since I drive the car all year round through Canadian winters.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I've had some kids open their soccer-mom SUV's doors too wide, smacking my door hard enough to shake it (with me sitting in the car) and hard enough to lift a bit of the Xpel film off the surface of the door.. and no scratch, no dent, and 30 mins later in the sun, no indication anything ever happened.
Xpel (and Suntek) self-healing PPF films are friggin awesome.
