2018 C63s Coupe - lower & wider
ive been in mbworld for some time, but that was with my SLK 55 which I lowered & added bigger wheels.
Ive now become ( or about to be) the lucky owner of a new C63s Coupe, currently on the way from Germany to the UK. My dealer tells me it’s the only black one left following end of production, that’s coming here.
ive researched for many days & nights, threads here on my plans & would love to hear from any members on additional information on the items below.
in anticipation; Cheers.
Three things I could do with a bit of help on.
1) I’m changing springs to either H&R adjustable (not coilover) or KW adjustable. I read a few glitches with KW, with squeaks/odd noises. Similar price with slight differences in adjustment peramiters. Which ones best ?
2) I have 20” OEM rears with 285/30/20’s. I know 295 will fit; from forum advice. Can anyone definitively confirm if 305/30/20 will fit, irrespective of slight speedometer error ?
3) lastly Spacers. I was leaving until after lowering, as camber change may affect spacer width. Eibach confirmed yesterday their withdrawing all pre 20mm spacers for C63 due to issues with the 12mm plus nose on the disc. They now only recommend 20mm plus which in most cases is to big.
off subject they told me they are just TUV testing new progressive springs about to be released for C63 Coupe @ 20mm front & 10mm rear. Cost circa UK £300. Anyway what is maximum width you’d advise (if at all !) for non concentric spacers ? & based on lowering 20/25mm front & 15/20 mm rear, what would you advise for spacer width using OEM 19/20 “ wheels & std tyres ?
Sorry that’s four questions........
cheers

2) Yes 305s will fit.
3) I wouldn't go bigger than 15mm spacers, and always hubcentric.

Eibach informed me yesterday that UK distributors have been informed not to supply to this vehicle less than 20mm ( which is to large anyway).
shorter hub centric spacers have been damaged because the nose on the hub is over 12 mm long. Therefore, say a 10mm hubcentric would not slide back to the disc fitting it. It would be 2mm short & will snap off, as demonstrated on this forum.
currently my only option is 5mm or less no hubcentric. That is the advice I received.
Also of note is today Eibach have been advising UK supplier to refrain from suppling the pro spring lowering kit to C63s Coupes. There is an issue with the kit. It fits the saloon fine (10mm rear + 20mm front); however when fitted to the rear of the coupe, the ride height came out higher. Hence the rear suspension Coupe must differ from the saloon.
I also note that the same kit from H&R are different part numbers for the saloon & Coupe. thus confirming this.

1) have just ordered KW HAS
2) will be ordering 305/30/20’s to swap out the rears
3) once tyres & lowering kit on, i can take measurements to determine what size spacers I need to make the wheels fit best. Regarding the spacers issue, Performance Alloys in Northern Ireland produce custom made spacers for any model/size & the appropriate longer bolts.
i’ll post pictures when it’s done.....just frustrating now waiting another week to arrive from Germany, then 10 days in port (customs), then transported to dealer & PDI to be done !
