'19 C63S Coupe vs '16/'17 AMG GTS

I've been looking to replace my W204 C63 sedan for a few years, debating on how much I need the rear seats in my daily which I only put about 5k/yr on. I test drove a 2016 AMG GTS and did love the way it drove, though not 100% sold on the looks. You definitely get the feeling you are in a special car in terms of the seating position, long bonnet, cockpit like atmosphere of the cabin. Only negatives for me were the materials used were nearly identical to my 10 year old C63, from the leather to the headliner cloth material. Also the infotainment system and analog gauges felt very familiar and dated.

That brings me to the 2019 C63S, which up until a few days ago I had ignored and didn't research. Right away my attention was caught by the new digital gauges and AMG steering wheel, which I expected the GTs would have had but are missing. It may sound ridiculous, but those are features that could sway me. For those who have driven both, can you give me your thoughts.

I expect the handling of the AMG GTS still is on another level compared to the C63S? I know the C63S is slower due to weight and less hp, but a tune and bolt-ons take care of any concerns there. The other advantages I would have to give a nod to the GTS is the exclusivity and that enclosed cabin/cockpit feeling you can only get in a 2 seater. But the extra practicality of the C63S coupe, digital gauges/steering wheel, more compliant comfort mode suspension, updated transmission sounds pretty compelling.

Digital dash does not mean anything to me so I would get the GTS if I were you. I havent driven the 2019 C63s but GTS handled so much better than my 2017.

Appreciate the feedback. I imagine handling wise not much if anything has changed between the '17 and '19 C63S. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to hear your impressions considering the GT's are built on a dedicated AMG platform. I know compared to my W204 C63 on KW coilovers, the GTS handled like a dream by comparison. I need to test drive a W205 C63S to compare all three, but I'm hoping the handling will at least be a nice improvement over the previous gen.

Pretty big changes in suspension with dynamic ride control and amg traction control from the GTR, retuned dampers, dynamic engine mounts..the 2019 c63s is the second car to get the amg traction control in the amg lineup. The media has raved about the changes and how much better the car puts down power while also being more comfortable as a result. I can't wait to see it in customers hands and see some time slips.

I had EXACTLY the same thoughts. For the price, the GT's simply don't seem up to par interior wise, especially compared with the w204 vs w205. I was glad to hear the 2019 would get the digital dash amongst some other important things, and that's why my vote goes to the C63S. Go up a size in tires, tune, and you're good to go.

Agree with most sentiments above, the interior along with the updated tech on the new '19 C63 is a night and day difference.

Always a case of each to their own , I agree with the OP on looks and find the GT model range proportions hard on the eyes.

Handling will be a substantial step up from your previous 204 series C63 vs '19 C63.

Your also considering used GTS vs brand new '19 C63, even if price was the same I'd choose the C63.
