2019 C63S First Drive Video

Start around the 3:45 mark.

Good sound.Seems to shift quite well, and 1st 4 gears are now nice and low, so should feel more responsive than prior car with the 7 speed transmission.Shift points: about 60, 90, 130, 170 kph for 1st 4 gears.

Love this video, seen it already - no talking no mucking about just the car driven to show how it goes and sounds like.

A close 2nd to Raz's RBR vids on the new 19 C63

Definitely sounds quieter than current one, closer even to the V6 RS5. Really don´t get it...

When I listen to the 2019 c63s in Mr amg's youtube video the car sounds much better than in this video.

I know the interior sound is now supplemented with sound from the speakers like the E63S (which, as much as I hate to admit, sounds great inside), but I can definitely tell the exhaust is quieter (maybe tamer is a better word) than the pre-facelift.

As long as we’re nitpicking about sound, I don’t like how the new 9-speed has that momentary pause between shifts at redline. With the 7-speed, at redline it shifts with a BANG or loud pop. Trivial, but I miss that - it really adds to the whole aural experience when running through the gears.

Also, I’ve mentioned this before, but too many damn shifts to get the 60 MPH. It may be better in terms of efficiency, but a 4.0 V8 twin turbo that’s geared like a 2.0L turbo is just weird. You should not need to shift to third gear to hit 60 MPH with the powerband we have.

wow, where did you see that they pump in fake sound now? That’s terrible. Always enjoyed mocking M3’s for their fake sound.

Ill be honest, to me the car in that video sounds the same as pre facelift.

They had to induce engine sound in the cabin, because the exhaust now has a particulate filter in it, which accounts for the quieter exhaust for 2019.

Check out my quote below in the other forum addressing this issue.

*********************
The more you listen to the youtube posts of the 2019's (those videos with actual microphones at the exhaust pipes), and most importantly with ear phones on your computer, the more you will hear the weasing sound at full throttle caused directly by the new exhaust filter. It's like a clothes' dryer outlet clogged by lint.

It is night and day compared to the 2018. With exhaust flaps open, the 2018 has more straight pipe guttural sound at low revs. At the same time, the 2019 has the great piped in V8 intake sound at high revs., which is missing on the 2018.

Don't get me wrong, I love the updates to the 2019, and I will trade in my 2018 and buy one if I can easily remove these exhaust filters without generating a check engine light.

If AMG Mercedes was smart, it should have known that we would want to do this, and it would pre-design an easy removal of the filters (just like the V-8 Mustangs have done for years on their rear stock exhaust mufflers). Easy removal - bolt off, bolt on.
