Will do, I am planning to get PPF and a dash cam installed prior to the trip. Wont be my first time crossing so I'm not too worried.

the experience definitely seems to be the norm for most buyers in the past few months, myself included. i've tried to remain calm and relatively professional, but my patience is wearing thin...the pre-delivery experience is definitely leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I kept my cool the entirety of the experience - but the GM of the dealership had a litany of complaints about MB corporate and their process. He was way more verbally pissed off than I was. Can't say I blame him though - MB kept relaying info to them to give to me which was wrong repeatedly. Essentially 8 weeks of Groundhogs Day.

MBUSA does seem to be the main root of the problem, they cant even keep their website up to date and dealers are often left in the dark despite their best efforts to keep customers informed. I have a friend who was an SA at both MB and Porsche and its honestly incredible how behind MB is when it comes to the dealer-corporate interactions

You have much more patience than I do. If I were given the same run around they keep giving you, I’d have been rather satisfied to give BMW my money for an m4 comp.

JPM-3, would you mind sharing your NetStar screen capture as well? I'm just curious to see the dates and progression of events on your vehicle.

coming from a "regular" M4 cabrio, i'm happy to move on. I mean, nothing wrong with it at all, but nothing really exciting about it as well. It does feel good in the corners (more agile than the C63), but doesn't create excitement/emotion for me. definitely a fun car though...will be interesting to see what they do with the G20...supposed to have 500+ HP.

Oh, so your car has not started production yet (or technically just yesterday possibly)? That definitely could mean that in the last week or so has been the cutoff for 19's...hmmm. Seems like yours won't actually be finished and ready for transport until mid-Julyish, at the earliest?

I may just have the last 2019 car built...

This screengrab was provided to me last week. I actually need to ask my SA for an updated screen to see if it in fact kept to the production build date of 6/26. Still just my feeling, despite what my SA says, I do not believe I will actually see my car before September lol.

I just got off the phone with the AMG manager. She says that "there is no way that the 2020s will ship before 2019s" and that "2020s will not start shipping until Q4 at the earliest." That's October. I asked her about the 2020s orders now and she said even if there is a decade planned, there is no guarantee it will start on time and even if it does complete, they won't ship until Q4, at the earliest. So, looks like your estimation is more realistic, JPM-3.

I did mention F1MIKE's 2020, and she said that Germany's release schedule is completely different than the US; Germany's cars come out much earlier in the year...

Either way, at this rate, I'm still not going to get my car until mid-August, at the earliest...33-40 day shipping + VPC time to the west coast is a looooong time. UGHGHGHGH

My Dad's 2019 s63 sedan 4 matic sat at port in Baltimore from august until late November when they released the car. He ordered it april 2018...Even if they make them they don't release them in the US until late q4. I am waiting for the carbon fiber side sills in the aero that come on the 2020.. they are going to give me them because of having both aero and cf packages and i didn't get the side inserts in carbon.. they sent them after i requested and they were the non aero.. I said this isn't what i paid for.. They are still deciding if I have to take the 3500$ credit which is what the non aero in cf are worth or if i can wait and just order the aero design cf ones when the parts became available,, which they expected to be 6 months + down the road according to both the sales and service managers.

Yuck on your dad's wait and yuck on the aero situation...kind of validates what the AMG manager said regarding Q4...

Oh well, I suppose August is better for me than Oct/Nov/Dec....at least, that's what I keep telling myself as I use my imagination to picture my car. Haha

Thanks for this update. This is the one area of uncertainty I have left and didn't know what the car was going to have on it when it arrives this weekend but it sure sounds like they will be gloss black. No one has said anything to me about a credit but they also don't seem familiar with this specific issue so at least I have some info to use now.

But seriously, do you know when the actual MY2019 cutoff is? Like how do you know your own car wasn’t built during an “overlap” period and should have also been a MY2020?
It looks like these questions have been answered by others already. Anyone know if cars destined for California go through the Panama Canal or do all ships dock on the East Coast?

Panama Canal to Los Angeles. The port it's coming through is on the build sheet or the order confirmation actually. It's on my ED confirmation. They'll go through the LA VPC.

Thank you. That makes sense.... I ended up forgoing the C63S that came in without 319 and a 3-unknown month wait for a reorder, and ultimately found a 2019 CPO E63S Wagon instead that I'm heading to pick up tomorrow. Woo!

Congrats Jason, the E63S wagon is an amazing car!

2019 CPO already sounds odd. Someone pick it up and change their mind 500 miles later or something?

It's home after a very long day (dealer met me half way, still 10+ hour round trip drive). Yeah, the previous owner had it three months, custom order, 3500 miles on the ticker. The way the story is told, the previous owner buys lots of vehicles from this dealer and swaps them constantly. "... a couple of G wagons on order" was tossed out in the description.

It's the only E63S Wagon in designo Briliant Blue Magno. Right now it's a bug catcher that looks like it is matte -- I'll fix that as soon as my matte wash comes in.

Congrats! Looks like you didn't get the multimedia package like me. If you still want the Navi, you can buy a memory card with it from ebay for like $60.

Thanks! I can't even remember the last time I used my car's nav system. If I ever need directions I use Waze. No multimedia, no driver's assist, no heads up... I avoided all the things I know I will never use. Just me, the car, that engine and my right foot and we're golden.

Congratulations. Beautiful. Have had mine for 4 days and it is fantastic. Enjoy it. Impossible not to. I got the aero package as well. Iridium on pepper red. The aero package looks nice on the car.

only complaint so far is brake dust accumulation. It’s crazy...

I will post some images of mine soon.
