from my understanding, the 2019 production has ended and all cars produced at this point will be 2020s, it would make sense to me that your order got pushed to a 2020 slot but that should be checked with the SA

My 2019 was built the first week of June, which appears to be the very end of 2019 models considering a 2020 has already been built and is on the streets in Germany. Mine still isn't on a ship yet. Considering the insane depreciation of these cars it almost makes me want to order a 2020 since those may be here very shortly after my 2019 finally arrives.
#1103
do you have anything to back that up or is it just the best guesstimate?

Does anyone know if there is an “official” cutoff time for building MY2019 and MY2020?
Also, Radon, remind me when your build slot was schedule for? Did you actually receive confirmation it was fully built? You’re just waiting for it to ship now?

Hmmm...mine’s not built yet. Supposed to be done this Friday. Could I actually have a 2020? I don’t want to get my hopes up but I feel like I should be afforded it due to all the delays (knowing full well many others have waited and experienced delays as well)...

I ordered in March and my build slot was always the first week of June, so no delays. Yes, I got confirmation that it was built and waiting for a ship. I'm on the west coast. I don't know how if the factory has already started producing 2020s how they would be able to build yours and call it a 2019, but who knows. I hope you get a 2020, and don't have to wait until November for it or whenever they release the 2020s.
But seriously, do you know when the actual MY2019 cutoff is? Like how do you know your own car wasn’t built during an “overlap” period and should have also been a MY2020?

My car was built February 28th, when I took delivery in Germany (ED) I found a factory built list inside that said MY20. So MY19 is NO different from MY20, just different pricing.

Yeah and that's a problem with these hugely depreciating cars. I mean, it's understandable when it's around May--even June--but into July, when others are already receiving MY2020s? That's a little sucky if mine is not a 2020 since it's still not even finished building yet. May be just my personal bias...

But why would they delay deliveries when there are no more 2019s being made/delivered? That would be a faulty sales strategy. I'm sure the 2019s took a while to get out of the gates last year due to all the changes, but if MY2020 is basically identical, then why wouldn't they want to make more sales by making them and shipping them ASAP?

I've put in an inquiry into multiple AMG contacts regarding my car...we'll see what they come back with.
Anyone know how much of a depreciation hit I'll take if my car gets delivered next month as a 2019 vs a 2020? I'll use that as my ammunition...

According to my SA (back in may) the factory was scheduled to shut down 2019 production some time in June and retool for 2020 production to start by July. I dont think this would take very long for them to do since there are very few changes between model years but I suppose it is possible they shut down the factory for a few days or even a week, but that is just speculation on my part. I dont know if cars are currently being built but according to my SA by July they will be building 2020 models.
As for my aero pack problem, it looks like I should be able to order the parts through the dealership despite it not being equipped on my build sheet/VIN. Will cost me a bit more but I'd rather do that than wait longer to take delivery of the car, since it is just cosmetic exterior parts. It also looks like I could order parts through CKS performance but not sure if that would be more cost effective than the dealer since they are based in the UK

purple, just curious how you know this...is F1MIKE on this forum? See, this lends itself to my logic as well...keep selling cars to those who will buy them. If Arjy and JPM-3's cars are already built (or ready to be built), why would AMG hold on to them...

He said it on his instagram account. He is also the Head Engine builder for AMG so he obviously has some pull. He traded his e63s for it and is happy to be back in the C63s coupe. He doesn't have to wait for things like the port and finishing touches the VPC's do. He gets it straight from the factory. I also don't believe the 2020 has been officially released yet. He is a 3rd generation engine builder for the Daimler group. His family history with Daimler goes way way way back. Mike couldn't be any kinder. He is an amazing guy!!!!

It makes sense to me that f1mike got his car early. Probably right after they switched the factory over to 2020, took one of the first cars off the line straight home.
We should know a lot more in a few weeks hopefully

Also the whole 2019 vs 2020 seems like it's really a distinction without a difference. Assuming you keep the car for a few years it won't make much of a difference in 2022 or 2023 whether your facelift C63S is a 2019 or 2020 (unless you have a thing for round numbers). At the end of the day I'm buying the facelift car not the model year. But that's just me.

This seems to be the case, or at least what my SA believes to be the case. Otherwise I dont know how he can tell me to expect my car so soon after the build date.

I see you're in CA but bought your car in MA. Are you shipping it via closed transport or diverting to the west coast VPC?

Seems plausible, but by the fact that JPM-3's car has already been built, and it's a 2020, it does seem like AMG has at least been building some 2020 cars this month...

I think they must have switched over production to 2020 some time this month.

Well for one they are backed up. If they run 2019 production through June and are only getting around to delivering April production cars now it's entirely possible it will take them through the rest of the summer to get out all of the other cars that built up behind them (May and June production cars).

agreed on buying the facelift. i know i'm being more of a stickler on this subject where others could care less...just annoying having waited 9 months since my original order and i want some recourse. haha

nice! i was thinking of doing that too (bought mine in NY, live in CA), but i didn't want to put the miles on and get rock chips. haha. sounds like fun though. let us know whenever you take your trek and how it goes...
#1125
makes sense, but I just don't understand how they have finished building 2020 cars and technically mine is a 2019 still and hasn't been built. why muddy the waters by building 2019s and 2020s concurrently? seems like there is a specific cut-off date, and it sounds like it's june, but just so hazy and nebulous...
