Do you also STILL miss the w204 c63?

Maybe its just me and that im currently feeling that my c63s just isn’t the same or better than the c63 w204 was because you lack that feeling (even though technically and numbers, the w204 is worse)

Is there anyone who also had both old/new and miss the feeling the older c63 gave you? Or maybe you feel the reverse?

Dont get me wrong I love my c63s but there is something about it that just feels too.. modern? Not giving that raw power the same way? Maybe im just overthinking now that i dont have my old 204 amg.

i had both and dont really miss it. i think mercedes amg have really stepped up their game since the w204. on a side note i race my friends w204 the other day. his w204 is coupe none p31 with wider rears and tune. mine is 2018 coupe S with secondary cat delete. we did a 25 roll at second and i was inching forward till i hit 4th gear and just took off

I just traded the 507 for a c63s sedan . I know exactly what you mean, however the c63s is so sick I don't miss the w204 that much . my wife prefers the raw w204 so far tho , its her DD .

I owned a 2015 507 edition coupe, currently own a 2016 C63s sedan. The C63s feels like a faster car, and I do like that I can somewhat break the rear end loose just a bit before traction control kicks in--something I could not do with the 507 unless I turned traction control off. Traction control would kick in on the 507 almost too soon. Driving the 507 on the street with traction control off was borderline scary.

Two things I do really miss about the w204:
  • The exhaust note. Can't beat a 6+ liter V8 NA motor
  • The look of my 507 coupe

As I just bought a 2018 c63s,

The seats in the w204 were garbage, at first I thought they were the best thing ever, then you start daily driving in it and I had nothing but complaints from people about how uncomfortable it was,
then I started to notice it haha

The turn in on the w205 is far superior, I almost hit a center divide tonight because its just so quick and precise. the w204 would have took alot more turn to even get close. so im still getting used to that.

The exhaust note and start up of the w204 was probably the reason why I bought the car. Nothing will ever compare unless I get a v12 Ferrari or lambo

Here are some of the problems im having with the w205 tho

build quality... I get rattles, car has randomly shut down once, the infotainment center has randomly shut off and thats only after about 500 miles.

I never had 1 problem with the w204, except normal oil change, tires and brakes.

last but not least, speed.

its hard to compare because my w204 was tuned and pushing out about the same HP. so to me it doesn't feel that much quicker. I can comment back after I pick the tune I want and im sure it will be much faster.

The look of the w204 was nice, but 4 years after I got the car it looked so outdated. The tech and looks and feel of a car that was only 4 years older blows my mind about how fast these companies change.

Interesting topic. Currently thinking about buying a friend's w204 with newly installed weistec blower and fbo stuff. It's an absolute beast. Definitely get what you guys are saying about the rawness...it's there in the 204. The 205 however, is smooth and pretty quick. Tough choice. Both can be rockets.

2015 C63S AMG
I had a ’09 C63 and now have a ’15 C63S. Trading in my ’09 was a sad day as it was the best car I’d ever owned. Here’s my assessment of the W204 vs the W205. Keep in mind, I keep my car pretty much stock, they’re fast enough to get me thrown in jail as-is!

W204
Pros
  • #1, without a doubt, the 6.2L engine. Instant throttle response, awesome exhaust sounds.
  • Aggressive exterior styling
Cons
  • Electronic diff didn’t cut it. I know, should’ve upgraded to a mech diff. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
  • Dated interior/connectivity
  • Head bolt failure concerns (mine was in the impacted range)
W205
Pros
  • #1, without a doubt, the 4.0L engine. AMG did a great job with the exhaust as it still sounds great.
  • Updated interior is far superior (other than a few squeaks here & there)
  • Electronic diff works fantastic, much easier to power slide through turns
  • Auto high beams
  • Extra leg room in the back, my kids fit much better!
Cons
  • Electronic e-brake
  • Disconnected exhaust tips
My main reasons for changing were the rear seat room and concerns about head bolt failure. As a complete package, the W205 is a nice upgrade.

to be fair if u had a FL w204 it pretty much takes ur con away. I also don't find the electronic ebrake horrible , it releases when u gas, sure feel very advanced and current.

My W205 is faster, more comfortable, has better technology, is more economical, has lower annual road tax (UK), a better sound system, and if I want it, far superior tuning capacity. In comparison, my W204 had a lot of soul, but it was feeling old. And frankly, I was getting tired of seeing videos of hooligans pulling donuts in car parks, and then wondering why depreciation on the W204 was getting vicious.

The fact that the exhaust tips on the W205 are a bit fake. Meh. The two whopping big turbos aren't fake :-)

Onwards and upwards I say.. !

I never owned the 204 but have a 17 63s and agree with you about the s feeling almost too refined. It's like a little S class... modern, stylish but fast with effortless acceleration.

Lately I'm wanting for something more raw with the instant torque like that big NA motor... plus that glorious sound. Call me dumb but I think I see one that I may grab...then I'll have them both

I had a W204, and really don't miss it at all. The torque of the M156 has NOTHING on the turbo-assisted grunt of the M177. I also think the new engine sounds better, personally. And I had the AMG Dev Pack on my W204.
