Break-In Period
Hey Guys,
Getting my C63S soon, I am sure there are probably threads on this topic, but I was not able to find anything in particular to 2019 W205.
Can someone please comment/suggest on the recommended Break-in Period for this particualr car. I've seen comments that say period should be 1000 Miles, others say 3000, and I've also seen 5k.
Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you guys!

10-20k THAT IS INSANE lol. I will probably kill myself from temptation until I can step on the gas all the way if I wait for 10 - 20K. Plus I am leasing this bad boy, so I won't have it for more than 3 years anyways.

Generally engines and vehicles in general tend to be in their prime around that mark. Most of your defects if any will pear their heads just before that point. The engine has already loosened itself, etc,etc, etc. The other side of the spectrum when just speaking transmissions and engines is 1 hour at temp. And I've done that before on racing engines, never really had an issue. Do a 1 hour break in and then run them on the dyno lol

Simplest and best, is to follow the instructions on the clear window sticker from AMG. Can't go wrong taking their advice. It's basically 4500 max rpm and 85 mph for the first thousand miles. IMHO, this is probably a little overkill. I think they do this to err on the side of caution, and to get people used to driving the car and feeling the power. However, at the end of the day it is sound advice.

That kinda makes sense I guess... Is there literally a sticker like that? Sorry for Dumb Question this is just my first Actual AMG. Had a GLE 43 Coupe before, but that is not "TRUE" AMG lol.

my recommendation would be for the first few hundred miles to keep the transmission in auto mode and not flooring it to kick down level. better to also try to drive a bit gently . if it is cold outside, this will help as you wont be going anywhere very fast on summer tyres for example if you give it too much throttle . the on board vehicle brain does a great job of limiting engine load in each gear and upshifts at lower revs over the first few hundred miles . if you let it take care of the shifting and once you reach the 850 ish mile mark it starts to let the revs go higher and higher when the oil temps etc are nicely warmed up .
after a couple of hundred miles , feel free to drive it in sport mode with auto shifting (but maybe suspension in comfort if your roads aren't the smoothest ) to allow revs to go higher when accelerating, again the computer takes care of revs for you.
if you wanted or cared , you could also limit cruising at constant revs . I was careful only because I will keep the car long term if it proves to be reliable .
rear diff oil change is recommended at around 1750 miles

Hey man! Thank you so much for the Detailed Response. It makes total sense... The thing with mine as I mentioned earlier it is a lease, so I don't really care servicing it, cause I will get service plans included in the lease. But I still don't want to kill it the first day and then wait forever to get another car.
