30K Miles in 1 Year Of Ownership With My 2018 C63s Coupe

Hey everyone, I just made a video on my 1 year ownership of a 2018 C63s AMG Coupe and thought this would be useful for anyone who is looking to buy this car or already owns it but hasn't gotten to this level of ownership. Its been a blast and I absolutely love this car, I hope to keep it as long as I can. Please feel free to drop a comment or your thoughts for this one.

Thanks!

Ylli (Team Driven)

You got cf on the door panels on the inside? I thought that came in brushed aluminum from the factory. Can’t seem to locate an aftermarket option that matches the stock cf trim. How does yours matchup against the stock cf?

My shop wrapped the carbon on the door panel! It holds up well since its vinyl and looks a lot better than just the aluminum that is stock!

C63 AMG S Coupe (Sept. 2017)
Btw, the bumpers for MY 17,18, and 19 are identical. The grills, upper and lowers, are direct replacements with no retrofitting necessary. Pain in the *** and very expensive with parts and labor, ask me how I know, but all direct replacements.

swopping out the front end parts tomorrow ( upper and lower grills). Recall seeing your post but can’t remember detail. I will be doing on a ramp. Any tips or watch outs? ( sorry for thread jack)

Yeah man, best of luck to you and that's the right way to do it - doing all of the grills. I've seen guys switching out just the upper and it just looks off with those lower mesh grills.

So, I never updated those interested with the rest of the story - so here's the Cliff's Notes -

After the reinstall of the bumper I just could not seem to get the fitment correct after putting the bumper back on. The seam gaps where the bumper meets the fenders was off as well as the headlight gaps were off. Some of the gaps were too wide and soom too tight and it was noticeable. I am particular when it comes to seam gaps so it drove me up a wall. I spent the next several days attempting to get the fitment correct before I went hat in hand to the dealership with hat in hand to ask for help. I told the master tech what I did and he could immediately see that something was off. So, he said you can leave it as it is and try to forget about it or I can fix it. I chose to fix it after I had just dropped nearly 90K for the car and was not happy I had done this to a nearly flawless car. The tech called me and berated me for drilling out the aluminum rivets and not replacing them with the incorrect item and he said there were other mistakes I had made. (I thought I had done a hell of a job personally) He spent 7 hours taking the bumper off and stripping all of the interior bumper bits and pieces off and riveting them back etc. So.. yeah it was a very expensive day at the dealership.

So, looking back on this I would say in the end yes it was worth it but I would take it someone that really knows how to do quality work and really does **** right. If you go at it yourself have one other person that can help you. Doing it by yourself sucks and you'll likely wish you had not started. I certainly regretted it halfway through.

But.. I think the car looks fantastic with the '18 head lights. I think the pre-facelift headlights paired with the newer style grill is just awesome - the S63/65 has a similar look that I am very partial to.

Good luck but it's a monster job without a lift and by yourself.

Thanks BG. Appreciate the detailed response. Not sure Im looking forward to tomorrow now! It’s me being a helping hand and a mechanic with a ramp but onky bloke d the morning out 4-5 hours for the job! Hoping to fit a lower spoiler also !

Just re read the p/grill thread and had forgotten about pot rivits so hoping he will have some.

Are you saying when you pot riveted bits back you did this out of alignment and this then lead to the bumper not refitting correctly? Cheers Nick
