Brakes clicking after driving
Hi guys,
I’ve recently picked up my c63s and noticed that the brakes click really loud after driving and apply the brakes. The hotter the brakes are, the more frequent the clicks till they cool down. Even low speed driving and lightly touching the brakes causes the rotors to click. I’ve checked with three of my friends cars same age and km and none of them make that sound.

Are you sure it's coming from the brakes and isn't a sounds from under the hood that's reverberating through the wheel well? When my engine is completely warm and has been driven for quite a bit (especially if it's been pushed hard), I'll get a similar clanking sound from the engine bay as everything is cooling down. It has done it since I bought the car new almost 4 years ago. My car's noise does sound a bit higher-pitched than the low clank your video shows, but that could just be the acoustics of the video.

I am almost certain its a component of the brakes. I say this because it alternates between both front wheels. It ticks more frequently when the brakes are hotter and lesser when its been used less. I tried whilst the engine was cold, accelerate as slowly as possible to 100km/h and applied brakes triggering ABS. did it twice keeping the revs as low as possible and the engine was not even warm yet. This caused the brakes to increase in temperature and it started clicking like the video a lot more frequently.

It sounds like something is expanding from the heat generated during use, and the clunk noise is it contracting back as it cools off. Almost as if something isn't torqued to spec so it is able to pop/clunk/move when hot. If so, should be an easy fix.

Thanks for the response. I will check it myself before it goes into the dealership. I have tried one dealership and they told me it was normal. I don't think this is normal because I have never heard this sound this loud before. 3 of my friends have the same car with similar KMs and their brakes do not click like this.

That is weird one...
not any brake noise I have heard before... seems too low of a pitch.
wonder if exhaust on that side is making noise?
I would make appointment with someone with lift.
have it clear.
Drive around hard and get everything real hot.
Then drive onto lift and lift it up and listen underneath.

it is the 2 piece rotor design, the two different metals cool at different rates
I haven't heard it on my C63 yet, but sure once it gets warmer I will. My GT350 does the same thing, but more a crackling sound when rotors cool down

The more I listen to the sound in your video, the more it sounds like the noise I hear on my car that I earlier said I always assumed was drivetrain-related. All along it might have just been my front rotors cooling down.

doesn't happen all the time, but anytime the brakes get fairly hot you can hear it when it cools down. Daily driving you might hear very faint crackling sounds, if you get the warmer would be more noticeable

Been to a dozen dealers, they all say its normal. Seems to happen to some cars and not others. WIll click a lot louder and more frequent if it has been driven hard. Any chance you can get a video uploaded?
I think its just the rotors pushing onto the hubs when cooling down. I went to a BMW drivers training and all their cars were clicking non stop which is warranted due to them being used on a track.
