Question on front tires

I have my two front tires wear out faster than the rear . Is it normal ?
I can also feel the steering has the clunking sound. The MB tech test drove it and said it’s normal due to the wide tire. Does anyone have the same issues ?

Thanks

I’ve been through two sets of rear tires on the same front tires. Unless you’re tracking your car, fronts wearing out that quickly is definitely weird. Depends on your driving I guess.

i thought thats normal because of the negative camber...

If he’s driving like a granny, I could see that I guess. I drive like a mad man, so I’ve already gone through two sets of rear tires and a set of rear brakes from traction control in under 25k miles. Only just now about to replace my front tires.

Maybe not. Maybe I’m just on the total opposite end.

We would need to know why the front tires failed, what exactly wore out in order to tell you if it's normal or not. If it was the inside edge of the tire then it may be due to negative camber which seems to be fairly common. With that said that is not normal tire behavior and I would have it realigned to minimize the negative camber and the front to your liking, in order to preserve tires longer.

Like many, e.g., as reported herein, I had to replace my fronts at 10K miles due to wear down to the cord on both inside edges. A bummer because the car was babied and I cannot recall anything that would have effected alignment.

I "upgraded" to PS4s all round yesterday, since at 17K miles the rears were at the rear-bar limit (and the fronts were ~50% but worn evenly). Since PS4s are not available in the OEM sizes I went with 265 fronts and 295 rears. I am very happy so far, with less noise and a much better ride even though the tire store set them to 44psi cold inflation and I was running 36 PSI all round before.

Something on the Michelin's (OEMs and PS4s) is that they apparently have pro-rated "30K mile" wear ratings, which apparently in fine-print-speak means 15K miles because the staggered front/rear sizes cannot be rotated and "pro-rated" supposedly means what it means.

I drive like a granny most of the time and my rears outlast the front but the fronts are not “failing”!
are you getting reasonable miles out of them. Driving style is obviously a big factor and then inflation if everything else is ok.
