anyone have any experience yet using slippery mode on stock tires? we're getting a big storm in new england tomorrow and I was planning to hit the road back to cali on monday. getting the feeling I'm gonna have to delay my trip home.

I've tried it briefly a few times in the rain, but ended up going back to Comfort. All it does is throttle the engine output and ease the throttle. I didn't like it as it made the car sluggish. I just ease the throttle myself. I could see how with winter tires and driving in the snow it could be helpful at times, but this storm is bringing snow to higher elevations, so on stock summer performance tires, that's not a good idea even with slippery mode. It's not gonna make up for the wrong choice of tires. I was planning on driving down to LA for the Auto Show this weekend, but scrapped the idea. They had snow on the Grapevine on Thursday and it's probably snowing again now. The roads will be a mess either way.

really don’t think you should drive cross country with this car if there are reports of bad weather, slippery mode will only do so much

I also have to agree with this. It's a rear wheel drive car with too much torque and summer performance tires. Even if you have pilot Super Sports, which have better wet weather handling then the optional Cup 2, the rubber will not grip well enough in for any snow. I winter drove my w204 C63 a couple of winters, and got stuck with an early snow before I got the Winters on. I was feeling very uncomfortable driving the three miles home from work on those tires. If you were talking about a c43 with all-wheel drive, you could possibly fudge it.

Yeah I'm starting to lean that way as well. Luckily I have my w204 back on the west coast so I can garage the new toy here until I feel safe driving it or having it shipped. Loving the car, shame we couldn't get our hands on them in august when the weather was more cooperative.

I was thinking the same. "What kind of idiot buys a new C63s (intended for summer driving) in November in Chicago?!" You can thank Pritzker for that one - trade in tax benefit goes away in 2020 in IL. So as long as I got it before Jan 1.

Does anyone have the same feeling as me. I didn't hear any Exhaust Popping on the my20. Am I going too easy on it so it doesn't pop? I can only hear a bit when its in park and hit the gas but nothing while I drive.

My 204 only pops when the exhuast gets really hot, it feels really authentic and is more than enough to satisfy me. I know the 205 PFL had a lot of bangs and pops programed in but I dont have much experience with it. What I do have experience with is a 2015 GLA45, that thing popped like crazy especially when you pull off throttle. I am only at around 800 miles on my 20 and havent touched S or S+, but I can say for sure it does not pop like my GLA did. I am in swiss' camp that I dont really feel bothered by it, the car still makes plenty of awesome v8 grumbling noise and with the valves closed makes it much more bearable for my better half. It seems to me that anyone who isnt satisfied with the sound just needs a burble tune and exhaust system that deletes some of the noise restrictors. There is for sure a lot of life in these engines but it feels very refined and much more comfortable to daily drive than my 204 with a race catback and long tube headers while still giving me the full AMG satisfaction

Make sure it's in sport+ or race first of all and the exhaust button is on. If you lift abruptly above around 3k in lower gears you'll get a few pronounced pops/bangs. The higher in the rev range (and the earlier the gear eg 1/2/3) you are, the more pronounced the pops/bangs. You may also get the occasional pop/bang when downshifting as long as the downshift blips the revs above 5k+ but I try to avoid that. It seems the warmer the car is the more it will bang but that's just anecdotal.

Very true. Encourage everyone to read the MY19 thread and others which have extensively covered this topic

The facelift backfires are tied to how hard the car is being driven dynamically. This includes both throttle and possibly as well as cornering. During extended aggressive driving, my car pops absolutely nonstop. Also in general at above 5K in S+, you should get consistent backfires on throttle liftoff. The facelift however does not backfire on downshifts, ever. Maybe the downshift blip past 5K+ might do it but I can't confirm and probably won't try to lol. The lack of downshift pops is for sure the biggest pain point I've heard from owners

So I decided not to take you guys' advice and began my trip on Sunday. Was able to get out of the cold and snow zone safely currently posting from Atlanta where it has just been raining on and off. Texas tomorrow, NM/AZ wednesday and finally will have the car home on thursday!

Car is a little messy from the rain but was happy to hit 1500 miles today, so once I am out of wet I will look for some mountain twisties to start revving out the car a bit. Scheduling a differential service for first thing Friday morning as well, anything I am forgetting regarding run in?

I'm being told it's somewhere between Atlanta and Houston. Maybe Friday afternoon. Or Saturday. Whichever would be more convenient. ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?!?!?! Gimmie! NOW!

We'll probably keep it for the weekend and drop it off the sooner I can get it in for a full matte wrap (over Selenite Gray Metallic). I understand they remove the badging then reapply them all. Anyone have black badging put on? If so, where did you buy it? Was it good quality?

2020 Deliveries

Hi Everyone, I am new here and been creeping on all the threads for a couple of months before I registered. I ordered a 2020 C63 Coupe on 10/18/19, build is below. I have been counting down the days until I get my car, I still don't have a dealer ETA. Mercedes did say production will be done on 1/22/19, and should get a ETA from there. They did say the overall ETA is 3-4 months, but I have a feeling it might take a little longer. The guy from Mercedes did say I should receive it by the end of February which is 4 months and I am hoping for that. Seeing all of you taking delivery of your cars just get me more excited to get mine.

I ordered my C63s sedan on October 4th. Dealer (MB of Tacoma) said it was built in mid-December and told me to expect a mid-March delivery. No VIN or other info.
