New disc/ pads- crazy brake dust on rears?

2018 c63. Just had new disc and pads all round, luckily at Mercedes expense after some discussion. Always got a lot of brake dust but the rears are currently generating ridiculous amounts of dust. Done about 700 miles and even after a wash, then a short journey, the rears are covered. Fronts are fairly clean?

Could the pads be faulty or a fitment issue? Or isn’t this normal? As I said fronts not a problem ?

You'd expect the fronts to be dirtier, not the rear. Especially with this car's braking setup.

Parking brake dragging? Running different type of pads in the rear vs. up front?

My rear wheels are constantly dirty, but it’s 100% from traction control kicking in.

All Oem discs and pads fitted all round at dealers at same time last week. Fronts no real dust. Rears covered after 1 or 2 journeys?

Could the rear brake be still on somehow?

TC kicks in without the light coming on. Most people will wear through their rears faster than the fronts. That’s what happened to me. I put aftermarket pads on and it did cut down on the dust.

Same car, same driving style and not had dust on rears to this degree prior to change.

Aware aftermarket pads could prevent this but that’s not what I’m asking.

Yeah, pretty much as long as you don’t see pads dragging on the rear rotors, sounds like you’re seeing how dusty these pads really are.

After two sets of rear pads in 20k miles, I switched to Porterfield and so far they’re noticeably better.

I’ll always keep the front pads OEM though; don’t want to lose any of that bite or power.

Where? On the surface of the rotor? If you're getting rust there, go for a drive and stomp on the brakes a few times. Friction will remove the surface rust. These rotors will rust immediately after a car wash or after being parked out in the rain. Completely normal.

So it's not on the face of the rotor itself. From that photo and angle, it looks like it is on the hat.

There's a sealant made by Wurth called SBS Brake Treatment. Supposedly works wonders on this type of benign surface rust and is safe/fine for the surface of the rotor if some gets on there.

Good luck.
