DME or Eurocharged ??
So the time has come ....warranty has expired and time to get a tune for my "S" . I'm leaning towards DME but Eurocharge seems to also be a favourite of many . I had considered BMS but considering there has hardly been any feedback ,no dyno's or 1/4 mile times to be seen I tossed that thought out the window. My car is all stock engine wise so it would be a stage 1 tune and no plans to put downpipes in at this time
So tell me about your experience and performance gains . Anyone gone head to head with a DME and Eurocharged tunes c63s ?

Jerry at eurocharged was very responsive to emails, questions and sent my tune and revision very quickly. Car runs great and pulls hard in every gear. I’ll be at the track soon.

If you want every ounce of power, can go with DME because their claim to fame is their tune will be faster than any other comparable tune. That said, they are overpriced and have a really good marketing strategy on social media so imho they are a bunch of hype.
I have EC, easy plug and play, solid results, great customer service. Might not be every ounce of power, but I'm good with that.

I actually have both tunes a eurocharged and a dme, I should do a comparison but the eurocharged tune put my car in the shop for 6 weeks. Now if were talking power the dme tune walks all over the eurocharged just by seat of the pants feel. I can feel the power drop on the eurocharged after 5500rpm and the dme is still pulling until redline. The boys at dme sent me back my tune within an hour and call me to check up and answer all my texts, so that's why there my choice

My car would cut boost and in the first 2 gears then eventually stopped building boost mercedes replaced both intercoolers intake and a turbo. Now I'm scared to re install the tune. So I got the dme. Someone once told me eurocharged m177 tune was developed for the 5.5 and they carried it over where as dme developed there's solely for the 4.0

My solenoid melted into the intercooler tubing. Very similar boost issue.......
seemed coincidental my car ran perfect before the tune & only had issues while on the tune
Since having it fixed & back to stock, hotlapped it & tried very hard to see if it happens again.
But no, runs perfectly, wonder what the issue was 🤔

Velos
I just installed the Velos tune. Easy install and very responsive. The car definitely feels fast and is more responsive but the power really drops off at high RPM. I thought this was just the small turbos. Does the DME tune really pull hard to redline?

All tunes drop near redline due to the turbos. That's why you have to be careful about people attesting to their butt dyno's. When you pay $1000 more for a DME Tuning tune, your butt will play mind games with you haha

Began to sell tunes for Eurocharged way back in the day when initially came to Boston, but after two weeks of listening to people talk about their tune issues, my own tune ate my transmission and I was out.

To be fair, I doubt any tuner has done much of any R&D on their tunes aside from Dinan and Renntech. You go in for a custom tune anywhere and they're essentially experimenting on your vehicle... that's the nature of tuning.

I would not put EC's tune on any of my cars going forward. Had their tune on my 2014 E63 and it was flawless, on my C63 it was terrible.
DME is overpriced and over hyped, but at least they deliver on what they promise. No complaints so far with DME tune on my C63.

Yeah that's a shame with the EC tune. I have Stage 2 EC tune and it runs FLAWLESSLY with amazing results. Ran roughly a 11.5 just on a random freeway 1/4 mile pull (measured with OBDII device and OBD Fusion app, so not official, but still pretty good run for 90% worn PS4's, 98F temp, and slight incline). I've heard good and bad from EC... can't beat the price, though. Jerry has been super responsive, too.
And I'm glad someone finally agrees with me that DME is overprice and overhyped. To their credit, they have an amazing marketing department =D But what works works, I suppose.
For me, it's the tuner that's most important. Not sure who is tuning for DMETuning.

I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on the DME tune. Are you saying its not worth it? Should I just keep the car stock and call it a day?
#18
I'd say it's worth it if you're looking to add power. But it's not a cheap tune, I don't agree with the prices these tuners charge for cookie cutter OTS tunes they send everyone but whatever. It's up to you to decide what it's worth to you. I'm happy with the power.

"Cookie cutter OTS tune" is exactly what these tuners which support multiple platforms sell. How the hell can any tuner do their due diligence on multiple platform at once and come up with a bulletproof product? All these guys get a canned one, spikes up the boost and fueling table at a certain RPM ranges and out goes the tune. That is exactly why most of these tuners see the same damn CELs over and over again. For example OE and EC had the same torque limiter calculation error problem at the beginning when they came out. Coincidence? No. There is a reason why tuners like Renntech concentrates on AMGs and APR concentrates on Audis for example instead of supporting 100 platforms at the same time.

For those that have downpipes ....did you have to pull the transmission ? Which brand go in the easiest and are quality ?

I figure they all get a canned tune and then lop off about 30hp for safety buffer and sell the thing... Just that DMETuning probably lops off a whole lot less so that they're the fastest, and then charges 2x the price.
