New C63S Radio failure

Hi all

I picked up my C63S cabriolet one week ago and finally got around to try to program the home link garage door opener. Typically this is pretty easy but not only would the car not train the garage door but during the process the radio turned off and refuses to be turned on by any combination of buttons. On my dashboard it simply says “radio off“. I assume it’s a fuse or other glitch. Anybody experience anything like this? Only a week old and 300 miles and already headed for the dealer...

Have you tried pushing the volume wheel button down? This turns on/off the infotainment system. Otherwise it might be the fuse.

Also does your Reverse Camera Display work?

The backup camera works. Pressing the mute /unmute button on the volume control does not help. It's not the sound; the screen is off for multimedia including nav etc.

If you push the volume button down on the center console, the entire unit turns off (and not mutes like pressing the steering wheel volume button). Could you have possibly pressed that down? It should start up again by default once the car is restarted tho...

I can try again but no it does not turn on by default when you restart the car.

If it's turned off, it will not turn back on even on startup until manually powered on

I know because my dealer likes to turn it off and the first time took me a good couple of minutes to figure it out

The same happened to me, after I went in for the diff oil change the mechanic working on it must have turned it off. I drove home initially without realising and half way home I realised the display etc was all blank. I got home, tried restarting the car a few times etc, I was sat there cursing the car when I realised it's just the idiot in the drivers seat that's the issue

If it's turned off, the Rear view camera still comes on automatically, but the full infotainment display doesn't until you push the Volume button down. No, it's not the same as muting.

It worked!

Of course you were all correct and all I had to do was turn the radio back on using the button... Thanks to all!

My wife did this once too when she was out and about in my car. She said the radio stopped working so I pressed the volume button and it turned back on. Her car has the same setup but I guess she never turns her radio off or inadvertently pressed that button before. No harm, no foul.

Haha, glad you got it working. Trust me, all of us who replied on this thread have been there.

Within the first one month of ownership, I ran into this exact issue while I was backing out my car from the garage parking lot at work and I panicked. I was very much disinclined to take the car to the dealership to get this fixed. As I was playing around with all the controls with the car still in the parking garage, I figured how to turn this back on. It took me 5-10 mins of trying out all the buttons to turn the display back on.
