Powder coating silver cross spoke rims but keeping lip chrome
Apologies if anyone has already answered this in another post, but I couldn't find it. Has anyone done or seen someone powder coat their silver 19" AMG cross-spoke rims to look like the black ones? In doing so, I'd like to keep the silver lip. I love the black rims, but I don't want to drop $2k+ per wheel when I already have the same rim in a different color. If you do powder coat, are you supposed to do the entire inside as well? Should I ask for satin black or matte black? Any advice you have about how to do this would be appreciated!
For reference, here's my rim and what I'd like it to look like.
I figure that, since the black ones are in higher demand, it'd be cheaper to just powdercoat these ones. Beyond that, don't have to deal with shipping, swapping tires, etc.

I know it can be done...they can mask of your silver lip & the AMG sign and then powder coat the rest of the wheel black. I have these wheels and I am not a fan of the silver lip (even though it is growing on me) and I talked to my shop about having the wheels powder coated but I want to keep that AMG silver but the rest of the wheel black and they said no problem...so I know it can be done. And yes you should powder coat the barrels (inside of the wheel) also.
For reference I would say the stock wheels are more of a Satin black than Matte black...but then I think they are painted so it may look a little bit more shiny in Satin black when you powder coat...heck I have seen them powder coated in gloss black and they looked Badass!!!

I also hate the silver lip. I've been thinking about getting these in black. Added benefit is that it offers a little bit of protection from curbs as well. They actually sell and install them at my dealer's service department so I think a lot of people are unhappy about the silver lip on all the amg wheels.

@perasmu01, I haven’t gone through with the powder coating yet. I just got this car so I plan to live with these for another month or so. I’ll follow up if/when I do.
For anyone else that has done this or something similar, please feel free to share. Would love some more info before I pull the trigger.
...I ordered new custom wheels and will sell my black, cross-spoke AMG 19" set soon. will have them overhauled by MB as I have bought the wheel service plan for them, so will be like new (even though no curb rash as they stand either). JFYI if the powder coating does not work out. A good powder coating can cost quite a bit.
