So I was walking by the front of my car late last night and noticed this white stain on the front left splitter. It seems to have only affected the plastic piece (as opposed to the surrounding painted areas) and will not come off with heavy scrubbing or a power wash. There is no other damage, which makes me pretty certain that I didn't hit anything. I can't for the life of me figure out what would've caused this and am looking for any insight before I reach out to the dealer (so I know whether I can reasonably argue that they should cover this under warranty).
If it helps, my car just received the Service A last week. I picked up the car from them on Saturday morning and noticed the white stains on Monday evening. Relatedly, they found a leak in my radiator, which they repaired. I'm not sure if any of that is relevant. Any help is greatly appreciated.
There looks to be a crack or puncture in the fascia. You had a leaking radiator. The stain appears to have emanated from behind the fascia or from inside the engine bay, for example from a leaking radiator.
Are you sure there was no impact? Can you post wider view photos? The description and photos appear to be consistent with impact.
Thanks for the reply. I've owned it for just over a year (January 2019). I can't be sure that there was no impact, but there's no obvious damage that I can see. These are the only photos I took, but I will grab some wider shots in the morning with more light.
I am pretty particular about my car and inspect regularly (especially if I think I hit some debris or ran over a pothole). There is nothing that I noticed while driving the car that makes me think it was caused by impact. I also don't see any damage other than the discoloration of the plastic. What makes you think I hit something?
Thanks. Does anyone know an easy way to remedy the problem, or will the entire piece need to be replaced? Should this be covered under warranty (especially when the stain appeared after the dealership supposedly fixed the radiator leak)?
There was a hole in the radiator, the stains that look like coolant sprayed on it and dried, and the fascia right in front looks separated.
wow, how and where do you see all that? I must be blind as I see nothing but white splashes everywhere. How does a hole in the radiator sprays forward like that?
