Was £1500 delivered from liftech, it's got the metal runners (most use plastic sliders) and electric solenoids on the safety release catch, so doesn't need compressed air.

what is the function of this rubber strip? I have just found mine has also been damaged.... is it necessary to replace it? What function does it perform?

no idea, but Mercedes engineers felt it necessary to install one. It's very easy to replace, just remember to use tri-fold rivets, as normal ones will rip straight through.

I'll get her Mazda traded up for something better this summer, so she won't need to use it!

That's one thing I've not got round to doing this year, when we were serious about buying the prices went up, so waiting for a bit. Test drove an A45s and it was a bit of an animal, very highly strung, tiring, hard to drive slowly, think its either an A35 or M135i.

If it was for me, I'd get a Megane, but she wants red leather :-(
