It looks like they are accepting pre orders again as I was able to add the pre order to the cart. Any thoughts on running this without a tune or do you think a tune is a requirement

Just wanted to give an update to those who have patiently waited.
1. The plan going forward is to ship units out in the order in which pre-orders were received. Due to Covid-19, there are some components that we need to complete the kit which are on back-order. We will ship our intakes out as soon as they are available, with the first ones being available on 4/17. Expect emails in the coming 1-2 weeks to complete the remainder of the balance prior to shipment.
2. We are accepting pre-orders through Friday 4/11. There are a limited number of spots remaining so please place your orders quickly. Any order placed in April will likely not ship until after May 20th. This is subject to change based on our ability to acquire the necessary parts.
We have updated the website listing with some pictures, and have posted them here as well:

Mhm, running my own company with extensive e-commerce orders I am surprised modalworks e-commerce store has so much trouble just taking orders. Seems a rookie mistake for an online retailer to miss out. So, I don't think trying a lot of times will enable you to order it until Modalworks either updates the qty on hand in their backend tool, or allows pre-orders with extended shipment times. There are other options, but its up to Modalworks to manage and not you trying many times.

Tune should NOT be required. May run a little rough on the very first run, but the car will figure itself out.

A question to modalworks - why do you keep the box open and not simply finish it off with a nice CF top lid? Just cost or any other reason to make it a fully enclosed box?

Yes, seals against the hood. The size of the filter and tubing we designed makes it really hard to fit a lid on top of the enclosure. We had some prototypes and didn't really like how they turned out. We found the best solution was an open element design with a solid heat shield... plus it sounds amazing.

I'll be testing this out on my Stage 1 (Dinan) tune with BMC drop-in filters. I'm excited to try it out and share the before/after 60-130 Dragy data and videos for you guys.
I'm digging this 3D printed version, I like the OEM-ish look of it. Should be able to get some data and videos if the weather cooperates this weekend.
And a special thanks to Christian for getting this out to me amidst all the craziness going on - appreciate it!

@ModalWorks Any options for the gray filter instead of the blue? I have gray accents on my 63 and prefer it over the blue filter.

@ModalWorks Darn just saw this reply and missed out on the pre order again! Do the dry filters need to be replaced after a certain period of time?
To summarize, dry filters can handle more dust, harsher environments and require less frequent cleaning. Oiled can be cleaned numerous times and have a slightly higher flow rate. AFE sells cleaning kits for both on their site.

Dry filters can actually be cleaned. Here is a link comparing the two different filter media we are offering: https://afepower.com/product-catalogs/air-filters.

I just want to know if these intakes fit an AMG GTS or not ?

Quick update on my experience with these intakes. Still haven't installed them, but I had a slight issue with the pipes that came in my original package. A manufacturing defect on the interior of the pipes that made me nervous about their long-term reliability. I contacted Christian to let him know and he responded immediately and personally drove out to my place (we are both in the Bay Area) and swapped the pipes out for a different set. He even suggested a contactless option to do so, though he didn't know beforehand I have a congenital lung defect and have to be extra careful right now. The new ones are perfect and I really appreciate the great customer service. That can sometimes be overlooked in this industry. I got one of the first sets and hiccups happen in manufacturing new products so no harm done and he went above and beyond to resolve the issue.
I'll post in this thread again when I install later this week, but wanted to call out the superb customer service.
