Has anyone checked IAT’s? I’ve attached the IAT’s for the stock unit. 1st picture is idling with car fully warmed up and second picture is cruising at 60. Ambient temperature is 80f.
Got my intake today. Cf quality was impressive and the install was really easy, took me ~30 mins.
Initial impressions: You can hear more turbo whistle, and spooling. Definitely more responsive to throttle input in S+ and Race, and like advertised above 5000 RPM is when you can feel a difference. Didn't have much time to drive around, but butt dyno says it is an improvement over my old UPD lifter filter kit.
Wishing I had gotten in at the pre-order pricing! 🤦🏼♂️
I'd buy a non CF version. I really don't need a CF intake, a plastic low cost moulded one would be fine. I like glossy CF that I can see! Engine isnt for looking at.
Anyone have any videos of the sound increase this comes with the intake?
As in post 36 above?
Havent seen any other, independent videos.

I think it is in the original post and/or on the Modalworks website, but they state that the test vehicle had a stage 2 Velos tune and catless down pipes.

I now listened to that video on #36 again and just now recognize how obvious the turbo noise is....but I am confused, the MW intake recirculating the BOV back into the intake...so, why does it make that noise? I would expect that from venting into air and not recirculating?

Because the intakes are now open filters the BOV outputs are close enough to the end the sound escapes.

Yes, that is recirculating back into the intake tube. The carbon fiber design with larger tubes make it resonate more than OEM. In our opinion the sound is a nice benefit without being over the top.
O man that video does a great job of letting you hear that recirculated blow off noise. I agree that VTA is way too obnoxious. The sound on the MW intake is about the maximum I would want of that blow off sound in a daily driver.

Thanks! Interesting, would not have expected that much of an impact when still looped back into the intake. Anybody has a video of venting to air in comparison?
Here's a video I took of the ModalWorks Intake and catted (200 cell) downpipes. You hear the intake the most with the windows closed, you get a really cool hissing/sucking sounds under boost and you can hear the air vent back into the intake (I'm using stock diverter valves, no BOV adapters or any of that nonsense).

Thanks! But what I was asking how it sounds when using an adapter and not vent it back to the intake but keep it open.
It will sound exactly the same under boost, the only difference with venting to the atmosphere will be the volume of the BOV sound. It'll be 2x-3x louder than the OEM valves dumping boost into open cone filters.
If you run any BOV (even with stock intake) it will sound exactly the same coming off throttle regardless of intake (since you're venting to atmosphere, not back into an intake). Here's what you can expect:

Great! Thanks, that gives me an idea what to expect. Did not expect that venting into an open cone intake sounds more like venting into air then recirculating into the OEM. Never stop learning.
