In the middle of purchasing a C63s
Sports seats v Normal

Hi guys,

I'm thinking I might be making a mistake getting the sports seats in the C63s that I am looking at buying. I know they look nice but if I'm going on a 2-3 hour trip I can imagine them not being very comfortable.

I can't imagine it being an easy job swapping them for the normal seats either. Also the C63s comes with them as standard.

My previous had standard and my current has sport seats. Both same model, c63s..

In the beginning i was missing the comfyer seats but i also hated the feeling of driving such a spirited car that did not hug you and gave you that confidence which the sport seats does. Seemed so loose in corners, roundabouts and turns..

Now i dont miss the comfy seats at all for this car and really love my sports seats. Looks Is nice yeah but really it feels great both in action and on cruise it completes the feel of driving a sports car and not just another floaty car.. (like my bmw 5 series) sorry i suck at explaining

Sport seats all the way. The normal seats just dont suit the car imo.

im 6'2 225 lbs, have made 3-5 hour road trips and have no complaints.

Sports are really decent from a comfort perspective and look amazing. However, im 6'1 I dont think the seats go low enough for some reason. As a result I have to put my seat further back to avoid my knees hitting the steering wheel. Thats my only gripe with them.

I am 6-3, 210lbs and have no issues, The C-Class is not a large car, so yeah our legs (and therefore feet too) have to be a bit more angled than I like but I got used to it. But the sports seats are great, I do 5 hour trips at time w/o any issue whatsoever. In terms of sitting height - its just the C-class design that we sit a bit higher than other cars but its manageable.

Many people will say go for sport. I have had both, and can tell you if you are not tracking it, go normal, they are sport enough for a daily use 😊

Love my sport seat and wouldn't trade them , I have no problem being in them for long periods of time but I guess it comes down to your body shape .....vastly overweight probably not the best choice

There seem to be tons of threads on this and you'll get both opinions. The AMG Performance Seats are not any less comfortable than good sport seats in any performance car. In fact they are some of the best. I still think they have been slightly redesigned in the FL. I could swear the seat cushion is slightly wider now. Either way, IMO, they are super comfortable. I have done several up to 12 hour drives in them. Yes, I do long grand tours. These seats are frankly phenomenal. With the ability to adjust the side bolsters you can deflate them completely for daily comfort and tighten them on nice twisty roads to hold you in place and you can now have them with ventilation. However, I personally find seats that hold me in place more comfortable than those that offer less lateral support, because a seat with proper lateral support keeps your upper body in place and relaxes your back muscles. They are much less tiring on the lower back, than seats where you have to work to keep your body upright. The cushion is perhaps on the firmer side and I do occasionally get a hint of numb bum, but the cure to that is regularly changing seating positions on longer drives. One should move around a bit when driving for a long time anyway. Any seat will eventually get uncomfortable if you sit in the same position for too long. My experience with the Performance Seats is not different than with previous performance cars. I do have all the driving assistance features, though, so on longer drives I can stretch my legs in various ways and adjust my seating position to remain comfortable while the car does much of the driving. Long story short I find this car to be an excellent GT. I did European Delivery and drove 6500 miles in 8 weeks across Europe and as mentioned some of those drives involved up to 12 hours of driving in a single day. I've done similar drives back in the USA and can't wait for the shelter-in-place to be over, so I can hit up the canyons again, which are typically 5+ hour round trips with lots of twisty roads. I wouldn't want any other seat.

My 70yo wife and my 29yo son drove 2.5 hours one-way to pick up some fresh 44Farms ribeyes. They drove HER car: 2020 C63S coupe w/racing seats. Neither complained at all. They said the drive was a hoot.

Love it! Yeah, my parents in their early 70s climbed into my car every day while I visited them in Switzerland. My dad climbed in the back and my mom always asked if we can take my car when we went somewhere. She admitted that she wouldn't want this car for herself and climb in and out for the rest of her life, but she enjoyed it for the 4 weeks I was with them .

For me, this machine came into its own on roads like these:

I definitely went for sports seats. Feels comfortable for me even tho I am under 6ft lol.... Something about just looking at them from the outside of the car is dope to me.

There is another benefit not many people recognize - they are much thinner and give the passenger behind you about 1" more leg space...my son is 6-4" and has now reasonable room to sit behind me when needed (not luxurious big but better than standard seats).

I think they're plenty comfortable. I also feel that the sport seats are necessary to get the full experience of the car. The standard seats are for sure more comfortable, but not by a huge amount, and the sport seats make it feel more supercar-esque.

I LOVE the sport seats.. drove my coupe in blizzard conditions for 4 hrs in a 6 hr drive and had no issue and I’ve had multiple procedures on my lower back and I don’t have much cushioning.. always have low back pain going down my left left for 15 years..the sport seats provide much more support for my spine and much better lateral support. My gf also loves them as well as a buddy who is a bout 6‘1” and 300lbs. I haven’t had a complaint yet.

,
I vastly prefer the comfort seats for the C63. It's a sports sedan/coupe, not a sports car. While you can take it to a track (I took mine several times), it really doesn't belong there. Much better suited to being a fast but comfortable highway missile that's fun on some twisty roads when they happen.

I’ve had an AMG with both regular and performance seats.
the performance seats are just as comfortable and way nicer. Go performance seats.

My wife has the comfort seats in her C43, and I have the sports seats in my C63S, and both are great. I do prefer my sports seats, as I, like others prefer a snug fit while driving.

Keep in mind the sports seats will break in like all seats. My seats are now more comfortable than they were for the 1st six months. It takes a couple thousand miles of driving for them to loosen up.

As Superswiss states, the ventilation really helps as well.

If you prefer softer and more relaxed seats, go for comfort. If you like to be held in place, the sports seats will be your choice. I think the vast majority of folks will find them comfortable enough and suit the car for use as a GT car.

Mercedes has some great seats. The S63 seats are more comfortable and if you need that feel, the comfort seat is what you want. If you live near a Porsche dealership that has a car with full bucket seats in a GT4/GT3 of some variant, that will give you a feel for something similar. I prefer the Porsche seats, but they do not decline as they are fixed and that won't work for many people.
