Flashtune/OBD wounderings
Hello friends!
I am now a proud owner of a c63s Coupe. This is my first Mercedes. Finally I took the step! And the first mod is getting rid of the cats
Thanks for a good forum to start with.
Anyway;
What is the thing with the price picture in terms of flash tunes?
Coming from a BMW M4 2016 which I optimized via mhdtuning. A simple app on the phone (stage 2, with the ability to change the g.box and ex.bangs etc) that cost me a total of: 800 dollars (including OBD cable) ... botmod3 is another supplier in the same price range. The tunes is top of the line, for BMW.
The prices I find from 3-5 suppliers are between $ 2000-3000 regarding c63 c205.
- In Sweden, there are companies that do the optimization (stage 2) via KESS V2 OBD (flash) for $ 799, (remotley Flashtune).
Can anyone explain what this is about?
What is the fundamentally differentiate between all different suppliers ??..
I think; if you know how to get HP then what can be the difference?
My question is based on how I should motivate myself to choose a supplier from the US that costs 2x double what is available in Sweden, that said, we compare flash vs flash, not piggy back. I understand, branding, warranty etc, now i just talk about the quality in coding...

ok so we tune via kess as well as obd. Basically your looking at the file delivery method with the technology nothing else special
the real difference is the quality of the tune, and honestly the company to support you during the process and more importantly after the process
for us, we love the handheld obd option as it stores your stock file as well so you can flash it whenever you want (dealer visits) It also allows us to easily give you a new file should you mod further (downpipes) or we release a newer version of the tune
we have tuned over 50,000 cars and know the platform extremely well (we even own one).
we also offer a motor protection warranty on our tuning! All software is not created equal!!!

The tunes are not created equally. A lot of times the tuners use the same person to write the tune (adjust parameters) and they are minor adjustments made depending on which brand tuner you went with. I'd do the homework on each tuner before you pick them.. They are definitely not all equal.

the real difference is the quality of the tune, and honestly the company to support you during the process and more importantly after the process
for us, we love the handheld obd option as it stores your stock file as well so you can flash it whenever you want (dealer visits) It also allows us to easily give you a new file should you mod further (downpipes) or we release a newer version of the tune

I do not know how it is with our cars but there is something called CPC that KESS can´t get through?
I would have loved to buy from you but you ask $ 700 more than my local tuner (in their price I can use a loan unit, this I can also borrow if I need to remap the car to normal which immediately gives me a saving of $ 500 ).
and as you know; that carbon fiber cost benjamis!
I think the term "AMG tax" for over priced stuff is a far too kind word for what it really is - pure greed
With that being said, I don't blame you in any way, everyone adapts and eventually you reach a standard, I understand that. But as I said after coming from M4 where we have everything done via tele or cable for 800 dollars, you have to question the price picture for AMG-tunes ...

This was posted in another thread. My understanding is the mechanic/technician doesn't see it.
however if the warranty is large enough or suspicious the dealer executive higher ups can run a program to check for it.

Any time you flash the car the ECU, transmission module, stability control module, etc, will all have higher than factory specification torque and load recorded. So while it's easy to install most flash maps they can never be fully removed.
