C63s Cab (2018)
Visual mods

Hi guys. I’m new to the forum and new to Mercedes. I just picked up a 2018 c63s cab and love this thing. looking to start off with a couple of visual mods. First thing I did was get the chrome waistline trim wrapped, which got rid of most of the chrome. I want to get black center caps and get a panamericana grille. I also want to look into gloss black door handles.
I looked up a few videos on the grille and it looks like it’s just taking the bumper off first then removing the grille from there. The center caps look easy to remove and install, just expensive. Door handles I've done 0 research on. Any help, suggestions, recommendations are appreciated. Or just drop a comment to say hi lol

where should I order them from? OEM vs aftermarket? Easy process to replace these 3 parts?

center caps seem to be about $500 each from the dealer. Found an eBay seller in Germany for $600 for all 4..

Welcome to the club. Car looks good....but those center caps got to go. Not sure what the previous owner had in mind there. Maybe simply paint them? Even at a professional shop you would pay less than e-bay.

Can’t speak on behalf of the first owner, but the chrome center caps on those black rims just look tacky imo. I have to black this out asap lol. How much do you think it’ll run to get them painted? Removing the cap is pretty simple, but it does have weird edges so it would be a pain to sand down the chrome and prep it for blacking it out. My other concern with getting it painted is the color matching.

Depends on your paint shop but less than $600 for sure. A good paint shop can color match - at least good enough that you will not see it. Only problem I see - if these are real chrome paint does not stick well to chrome. As quick fix you can always Plasti dip for now and see how it looks...can't be worse than what it looks now.

a buddy of mine has a body shop and said the same thing about the paint not sticking to chrome. He said it would probably be a few hundred to have this sanded, prepped and painted. I’m thinking of just biting the bullet and spending the $600 on eBay. And worst case I can return that (if it doesn’t fit or look right) and then go the painting route. Next on the list will be looking into swapping the grille to the panamericana

Just take the caps off. I'd much rather have a hole there than mismatched wheels.

I also tried searching for black door handles and wasn't ever able to find them. Paint would be ideal but expensive, and irreversible. I wrapped them, but due to their shape the wrap was imperfect and I peeled it off. Ended up getting door handle covers from cksperformance. They work well enough. If you go that route, be sure you're getting the right version, as they make left-hand as well as right-hand drive variants.

haha, that made me laugh!

do you have pics of your door handle covers? Also do you have a link to the ones you bought? I might go that route.

Closeup you can see its definitely not perfect, but from a side profile it does the job.

Honestly considering taking them off and just leaving the chrome doorhandles alone. Other than the grille, its the only chrome on my car.

but digging the matte black. What year is your car? And is it an S?

Haven’t really thought about that. But I can look into it. Might feel a little weird tho, no?

Taking the handles off is relatively straightforward but is wrapping them easy and does it look correct??
Did you actually do it?
I would take them to a pro as I want the painted section behind the pano roof wrapped in black as well

Here's a tip, see how cool the wheels look without the disk, as the center Is really two separate pieces.Just pop out the center cap and thread it back into the wheel. Better yet get the black version of the center cap inside the ring for much cheaper. Not sure if all that makes sense but that silver center Is actually two pieces. Attached is a photo of my car with just the center Mercedes emblem and not the ring

I ended up ordering the black center caps. Waiting on them to arrive from Germany. Hopefully there’s no issue with them and it’ll be a 10 minute job to swap them.

idk if it would look as clean on my rims since they’re black and I think I remember seeing some silver under the center cap when I removed it

Thanks and I totally agree, was just messing around one day and popped them off. For us with silver rims, it costs nothing and I think gives a more aggressive look.
