My "I'm done with the COVID lockdown" drive

With things slowly reopening around here and one of my favorite crab sandwich places open for take out again, I decided to go for one of my canyon runs. It was great! Highways were wide open and not many cars in my direction on the fun roads. The few I came across were intimidated enough to pull over eventually and let me by . I feel restored! Only issue all the restrooms are closed, so I had to manage my water intake and hold it until I was back home . Good to be back in the AMG for more than just local drives to go ride my bike or the grocery store. I had forgotten how good the car feels on long trips and flinging through the twisty roads.

Sounds fun! Thanks for sharing. I went for my own 4 hour drive this morning just west of Northern VA near Shenandoah. Roads were wide open. The 63 is such a great highway car and then turns into an awesome corner carver in the twisties. Just perfect versitility!

They've closed all the public toilets in the UK too, they somehow think that's going to deter all the day trippers. Now every man and his dog are slashing in every corner they can find and they've turned the beauty spots into a stinking pissfest.

What canyon runs are you talking about? I assumed you’re in the Bay Area and going into the City for crab sandwich... I’m trying to visualize the route. Must be either from North or South and be on Highway 1 as much as possible?

Are you in the AMG NorCal Lounge group?

I live in the East Bay and did Skaggs Springs Road from 101 over to Stewarts Point, then down Hwy 1 to Spud Point Crab Co in Bodega Bay and then back to the East Bay. This is one of my favorite runs. No, I'm not in the AMG NorCal Lounge group.

Oh my, you drive in your cars for 4h just for fun alone? I love my car but that's just too much time to me to just drive while I could do a lot of other things. But cudos if you can "sit" that out. I am impressed.

Haha...Yes, I do and this is nothing. I do up to 12 hour runs. Occasionally, I drive down all the way to SoCal to rip through the canyons above LA and then back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I love Grand Touring and be by myself out in the world. I did European Delivery with my C63S and drove 6500 miles in 8 weeks across Europe. Drove from Switzerland all the way to Copenhagen, Denmark in a single day. Was about 11.5 hours of driving, plus a nice 1 hour ferry ride. Obviously a lot of high speed driving through Germany. This is how I relax

I am German and grew up their and know what you mean....but my driving enthusiasm is still not quite like yours. I guess I am more like the guy who just wants to tinker with the car and enjoy the driving I have to do anyway.

Man I bet that was a priceless trip.
