First Post- Warranty

What's up people? I bought a 2018 C63 sedan a couple of days ago. The car has 13k miles and is still under factory warranty. I do want to play it safe and get an extended warranty but there are so many different companies I don't know which to choose. I bought the car from Hertz and they work with Fidelity. They offered me 6 years 100k miles for $4,700 for their platinum coverage. Any recommendations and what have your experiences been with 3rd party warranties?

Thanks in advance. Stay safe!

You may want to check out Hertz in the news, they just filed for bankruptcy yesterday so that may not be the best option right now....

I am sure warranty is underwritten by someone else.

this does not seem a bad deal - when is asked for quotes to extend my warranty with MB it was much more than that.

Don't know what it's like in the US, but 3rd party warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on. I'd only go Merc, if not, map the crap out of it and remember its only 8k for a new engine 👍

If you do your homework and do what you're doing right now. Network with like people with like needs. Try doing a search on the word "Fidelity" in the main search area. Here's what guys are saying on the Macan forum of which I'm a member there too (2018 Porsche Macan Turbo - RED!): https://www.macanforum.com/threads/s....169241/page-2

I'm a new C63 owner as well, picked up a 2017 CPO car last week. I went with the factory extended CPO warranty, was able to shop around and get a good deal with much help from the link below:

Extended Warranty Discounts

I've owned 2 other CPO cars in the past and the extended warranties have paid for themselves on both occasions. The extension to the factory 4yr/50k is a different product, but from everything I've read they have similar coverage. I've never dealt with third party, so unfortunately I can't help much with a comparison.

New as in one that isn't broken (if you break your own). I'm sure they are quite expensive from Mercedes. 2nd hand low mileage engine (fully dressed) can be got for 8k, maybe less.

I guess neither are right - can’t get it for $8k but don’t need to buy an entire car ($72k) to get the engine either.

interesting - all in UK, typically I see used engines for $15-$20k in US. This one guy in the UK is funny though...talks about accepting returns if claimed in. 7 days...and “return” postage be paid by buyer. 😂

I'm sure LS7's and other yank metal will be more expensive in the UK, but the C63 has always been a popular car here, so plenty of engines on the market. I always have a look, because reality is that 80% of a warranty is on the engine and gearbox, the rest of the stuff is either serviceable, aftermarket alternative or not much to replace. So an engine for 6-8k doesn't seem too bad if a warranty is a similar price. Especially when some warranties are insisting on refurbed parts.

Fidelity is solid as far as aftermarket warranty companies go. IF and only if you keep the car stock, OEMs are a little lenient but fidelity voids all warranty if/when they find any modifications on your car.

He's also a moron, and most likely did that for clicks/views on his garbage channel.

They sell em cheap, because without VIN matching in trans, tcu, etc etc , that car would end up a crap show.

Can you purchase one through Mercedes-Benz? We had an extended warranty on my wife’s previous CLS550 and had a couple issues dealt with under the extended warranty with zero problem.

Eh? Just use the hardware and transfer your original ECU. Replacing an engine is not exactly rocket surgery. Warranty companies ask for a refurbed tranny anyway, how do you think they do it and where do the transmissions come from?
