DME ST2 Dyno Results

Today we installed the SSR catless downpipes and the DME Stage 2 tune - then put it on a DynaPack and did a few pulls. Sadly, we did not get a completely stock pull, because he was tuning a car beforehand, so we started to install the downpipes awhile. The car is much, much louder with the exhaust open, and it's about a 75% reduction of noise when closed, which is great. We did 1 pull without the tune and then 3 pulls with the tune (about 20 minutes in between each pull). All 3 pulls were spot on with each other.

- My car: 2018 C63-S with 13k miles.
- Conditions (if anyone cares): 91F, 43% humidity.
- With the downpipes on, but no tune, the car made 512rwHP.
- With the downpipes on, and the tune uploaded, the car made 574rwHP and 650TQ.

Much love to the guys at DME.

Well good for you but have series doubts on the numbers. Uhm, how do you start with 512rwHP w/o tune and just downpipes? Car makes 503 hp crank to spec or best case maybe 545 hp crank (Renntech dyno). So just downpipes dont get you to 512 rwHP aka ~ 600 crank I am either missing something big (not impossible) or that dyno needs a calibration. Typically Stage 2 tunes get us into the 520-530 range on the wheel.

Dynapack Dyno reads very high. I wouldn’t focus on the actual numbers too much. Look at the before and after.

Yeah, I did see that the before and after is about right ...maybe even on the low side for a stage 2 tune. But what gives if I do a Dyno to just see the difference...it's pretty predictable for common tunes these days.

You’re right, it is predictable these days unless it’s just to confirm that everything is working as expected.

Looks too nice to be true . I am particular impressed with the gain at low RPM...increasing boost that low down has that much impact, is that real? I asked the same on a different thread where Renntech also shows those huge gains at low RPM (I run Velos and their curve does not separate until about 3000).

I mean, I was just posting this thread for anyone that had questions like I did prior. DynaPacks do tend to run slightly higher on numbers.

This was strictly a “let’s slap these downpipes on with the DME stage 2 tune and see what happens” kind of thing. The car is much louder, it doesn’t have any traction in 1st/2nd, and sounds amazing under load. The TQ increase on the low end is very real, and extremely noticeable.

I’m perfectly happy with how it turned out. When the loudness gets annoying, just silence the exhaust, and it quiets it a good bit.

Congrats OP. I also have the DME stage 2 tune and love it, are you planning on taking the car to a drag strip soon? Get some 1/4 times and trap speed to really see the performance difference between stock.

Congrats on the gain in HP gain with the tune.

I think Dynapack is known to be 8-10% higher. A reputable shop in Santa Ana explains them below. This just means not to read these numbers as baseline to others.

Did OP take off their wheels for the dyno run?

From the website:
"3. Dynapack - These are the red headed step children here in the states. Not as common as the Dynojet or Dynapack, but these are the standard in Japan. These are fundamentally COMPLETELY different that the inertia type dyno's.

With the Dynapack (my favorite), you remove the rear wheels, attach the hubs of the car to the "pods", and make your pass.

The load is simulated on the car via a hydraulic pump. Because these are effectively inertia-less, they will read HIGHER than the standard Dynojet numbers by 8-10%. That number will vary depending on how "fast" your dyno run lasts (sweep time), but as a rule of thumb, they'll read ~8-10% higher. So with this dyno our car will now read ~109rwhp on average.

The pods are always red, but these are easiest to ID. If they are taking off your wheels, it's a Dynapack!"
