Clanging sound from left rear wheel after car wash

Clanging sound from left rear wheel after car wash
So I went to a car wash and afterwards I hear a faint clanging sound coming from my left rear wheel area. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
the clanging sound is apparent when riding over bumps or rough roads. Can’t hear it when windows are closed but hear it when windows are down.

Something could be lose in the suspension. Happened to my 2020 C63s. They had to tighten some lose suspension parts in the front right I believe.

1st thing you should do is get down there and visually inspect it, poke around to see if there is anything moving that should not be moving. My guess would be the dust shield.

hope it’s as simple as just tightening the lose suspension. Hopefully nothing broken.

visually don’t see anything off. I’ll try poking around underneath to see if there is anything moving around. I recently had my car up on a jack stand to install a panamericana grill so not sure that had anything to do with it. But the sound is coming from rear wheel well so don’t think it’s the bumper area.

I had a clicking noise from the front left wheel. It ended up being the center cap. Could check that out

hmm yeah that’s definitely, I’ll try that and see if that works. Cross fingers. I got an appointment with Rallye Mercedes which charges and arm and a leg. So hoping I can fix myself before appointment

I had to remove the hub cap (including the disc). Assuming we have the same rims.

I think this was the issue. I went to check the wheel and indeed the disc in the hub cap was loose. When I go to touch it, it makes a similar noise I’ve been hearing. I tighten it and now the sound is gone. I didn’t test drive yet but will update after test driving. I am so relieved most likely it’s not a suspension issue. Thanks for the great suggestion!

np. Glad I could help. That noise was driving me nuts when it happened to me. Took me 2-3 weeks to figure it out.

Test drove my car and noise is gone 😀.

Tell me about it. Wish all my fixes were that easy. Ever since my warranty ran out, any issue or noise I hear makes my heart drop (and my $).
