Extended warranty for $6200 cad

Hi guys so in the process of buying a 2017 c63s coupe and would like to know if IMO should buy the extended warranty for 6200 bucks? Does that seem fair? Are these cars reliable? the car is a 2017 and has 44000 km on it. Warranty is expiring in 2 months, so if I buy this warranty I’ll push it for 3 more years or 60k whatever comes first.

any input is greatly appreciated!

I was able to get an extended warranty when I bought my 2017. I ended up getting a really good deal and ended up paying like 3k for mine. Mine is 4 more years 100k. I have haven't had to use it yet. My manufacturer warranty still has 9k miles left. I took it there once because the suspension felt off. They were going to fix it but since I still had my warranty from Mercedes they sent me to the dealer. It will depend on what the warranty covers. Mine is everything except wearable parts. The engine in these things is very strong from what I have learned. They use this engine in almost every class of AMG currently so it must be reliable for them to do that. As long as you take care of it I am it will take care of you.

I would just make sure you read all the details in the warranty.

Thanks a lot for your input!
yea I’m very Indecisive with buying this 6200 dollar warranty. I feel that considering the age (2017) and (44000km) in 3 years I shouldn’t have issues, but then again if a tranny issue pops up or a turbo goes (knock on wood) lol it can easily rack up to 6K in repairs.
Another question, if you have a Mercedes Benz extended warranty does that mean all maintence work like brakes oil changes things of that nature must be done at dealership? Or can I go to a private garage ?

Doug Demuro, as well as email conversations with Tom McParland has me convinced to just roll the dice, save the money you would've put into the warranty and use it for the car when needed. More important to find a good local shop.

$6200 is way too much. Don't pay that.

Did you actually speak to Doug? I tried to reach out to his gmail and offered to let him use my C63S for free in a review last year but never heard anything back from the guy so I thought he must be too up himself 🙄🙄🙄

Regards,
George Lisciandro

yea I figured!
I know when these cars brake down the parts and labour isn’t cheap, but the car is 3 years old with only 44km on it so I don’t think I should run into any issues considering the age and how good everyone speaks of these new 4.0 engines.

No, I only got in contact with Tom and he was quick and easy to get a hold of. I figured Doug must be inundated with a whole bunch of people trying to ping him :P. I think the allure of Doug is that he looks and sounds so "accessible". I mean heck, his name is Doug. Sounds like a guy you could chat with. But yeah, he's probably super maxed out on random people pinging him.

Can you get Geico insurance for your car based on where you live? I bought a 2018 Porsche Macan Turbo in '18 new. I signed up for Geico's MBI (Major Breakdown Insurance) for $25/mo when I added the Porsche to my auto plan. At 12 months over 10 years, that translates to $3,000. This is worse case since I'll probably not keep anything that long. It's ease of mind.

That MBI looks promising.. I wonder what they cover and how legit it is.

To this extent: the Macans are notorious for the front timing chain cover leaking oil. It's a long story as to why this is happening. But, in any case, the engine needs to be pulled. The job can take a week to perform since there are a gazillion bolts that hold it on. Price ranges into the $6,000 range to repair.

I called the MBI people and very specifially asked them if I got an oil leak out of warranty would they honor that level of repair. I was assured it would be. That right there sold me.

2017 c63s edition 1
I have a Canadian 2017 C63S edition 1 coupewith 40 000km on it. I just did the 2 year extended warranty and thankfully I did. Cause two months after original warranty expired both front torque struts started acting up. Covered under warranty or would have cost $3000 to replace both through dealer. So two months in its already eaten half of the extension!
it's all a gamble.....you never need the warranty til something happens lol.

Geeze $6200 for extended warranty?
Shows how much Mercedes have faith in our cars not requiring repairs.

But yeah, don't pay that. It's just way too much.
See if you can get a better deal at another dealer etc.

No I am not required to go to Mercedes for maintenance. I have a shop here locally that is cheaper and better then the dealership. They do all maintenance.

Thats very strange that struts needed to be replaced ....I worked for Mercedes and had never seen one come in for that . Also there is someone on here with 85,000 miles and very few issues

can you get USAA insurance where you live? I got my extended warranty for my W212 E63s and the tiered pricing was great so i picked the terms - well worth the price.
