Questions about navigation options on 2021 C63s

I am planning to order a C63s cabriolet in the next few days and have a couple of questions about some of the options, especially with navigation. I would rather ask these questions to forum members because I don't want to rely on a sales associate possibly giving me bad advise. My confusion is with the MB Entry Navigation and Pre-installation for SD- card navigation options. What is the function of these options? Does the C63s have a functioning navigation system without getting these options? Also, on another subject, I am getting the Parking assistance package because I like the surround view feature. Is the Driver assistance package a must have? I'm surprised the Driver assistance package doesn't include the surround view. If anybody has suggestions on other must have or highly recommended options, I would appreciate your input. I will not bore you with my build but again, I welcome your suggestions.

I see you keep posting in the wrong forum. This is the forum for the next generation C63. You should post here if you are planning on ordering a 2021: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-amg-215/

As to your question. No the C63S doesn't have a functioning navigation system by itself. W/o any of the options, you have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard, so you plug in your phone and use Google Maps etc. via CarPlay or Android Auto, so that's one option, then there is the Multimedia Package on the top end which adds the full COMAND system with navigation, online services etc. In between you have the MB Entry Navigation in conjunction with the Pre-installation for SD-card navigation. These two options go together. You need the Pre-installation for SD-card navigation, but that doesn't give you any navigation yet, you also need to purchase the MB Entry Navigation, which is the actual SD card that has the navigation software and maps on it. It's a standalone navigation app that runs on the Infotainment. It doesn't have online services or integration with Mercedes Me. This used to be Garmin actually, but MB developed their own app or it's a rebranded Garmin, I don't really know. No idea really how you get map updates for it etc. You may have to purchase an entire new SD card every time there's an update. The Multimedia package includes 3-years of free map updates. They get installed over the air for you home region automatically, or you can download all regions from the Mercedes Me portal and put them on an SD card or USB stick and perform a manual update.

Also, if you get the Driver Assistance Package you must get the Multimedia package, because some of the driving assistance features use the navigation maps to function such as automatically slowing down for roundabouts, intersections and exits.

So your three options for navigations are like this:
  • Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (standard)
  • MB Entry Navigation w/ Pre-installation for SD-card navigation
  • Multimedia package
You always have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as an option even if you go for one of the other two options. For me personally, the driving assistance package was a must. The semi-autonomous driving features are awesome for long journeys or when stuck in traffic. I don't buy cars anymore that don't have at least adaptive cruise control.

Thank you superswiss. I actually thought I was posting in the W205 section but I guess I didn't. I assume that since I will be ordering a 2021, I am actually in the correct section. In my build I am ordering the seat ventilation option especially living in Florida. I found that by ordering this option, I cannot get choose the Magma grey/Black Nappa leather color. I assume it is not perforated leather on the seating surface to allow for ventilation. It seems that the Black Nappa leather with grey accents is a common choice. I am doing the carbon fiber exterior packages on the exterior and interior. Maybe a waste of money but I like the look especially with Iridium silver. Are there any other options besides the induction phone charger that you would advise me getting? Thanks again for your help!

The 2021 is still a W205 just to clarify. Word on the street is actually that the cabrio will be discontinued for the W206.

I have found that the seat ventilation option is not correct in the online configurator. Are you talking about the Magma grey/Black Nappa w/ Yellow stitching? That's the interior I have in my coupe in conjunction w/ the AMG performance seats and both heating and ventilation. As far as I know the ventilation is available with all upholstery choices. As for other options to get that's somewhat personal preference, but I would add the night package, performance seats and digital instrument cluster. I have the wireless phone charger, but I never really use it. I kinda expected that as I never really need to charge my phone during the day, but I got it just in case I ever need to charge. I have the CF packages on my coupe as well and I'm so-so on it, because you don't really notice that it is CF unless you stand close enough to the car. Given the cost of it I'm not sure I would do it again. Maybe it's also because my car is Obsidian black. The CF kinda disappears, but close up it definitely looks nice.

When I select the Magma grey, then select seat ventilation, A pop up screen comes up saying I need to make another selection. I don't understand that. I am getting the digital instrumentation. The performance seats are a little too firm for my back so I'm not going with the standard ones.

As for MB discontinuing the Cabriolet, that's ok by me!

Yes, that's what I meant. It's a bug in the online configurator. Same thing happened when I tried to configure my 2019 coupe in the online configurator. They seem to have fixed it for the 2021 configurator now, but they haven't updated the cabrio configurator on mbusa.com yet. It's still the 2020 configurator. Don't trust the configurator. Get a dealer to build the car in their system. That's the ultimate authority.

FWIW, here's a closeup of my seat with the exact same interior. You can see the perforated magma leather for the ventilation. Keep in mind the non performance seats don't have the yellow stripes. You only get that with the performance seats.
