Mercedes.me app seems to have broken my GPS

While I was checking out the new Mercedes Connect phone app, I tested sending an address to the car (which has worked fine previously).

Now when my car starts up, it tells me a new address has been added, and would I like to navigate to it now? Whether I select Yes or No, it keeps popping up asking me if I want to navigate to the new address. Over and over and over, effectively crippling my GPS. What a royal PITA.

Anyone else encountered something like this?

Haven't seen that. In fact I just sent one earlier today. With the old app I sometimes received a duplicate and that's fixed now. The app sends the destination either via Bluetooth if you are already in the car and the phone is connected, or over the Internet. Maybe the app is stuck in a loop on your phone and keeps sending it. Have you tried to kill the app? I did have to actually uninstall the app and install it fresh when the update came out, because the destination sharing wasn't working correctly at first. If this doesn't work try pressing and holding the volume button on the center console until COMAND reboots.

I don't believe the app was running when this happened, but these are great steps for me to try, thanks. I'd been wondering how to reboot/reset COMAND, so I will try that tomorrow if I can't get anything else to work.

Just to follow up on this, today I started the car without my cell in my pocket, and the endless loop COMAND had been stuck in vanished.

So, thanks for pointing out that the problem might be the cell phone app, and not COMAND, which hadn't occurred to me in my annoyance.

Anyway, PHEW!

You're welcome. Glad you got it sorted. Yeah, the app is in communication with the car even if you don't actually have it open at the moment. For example you might remember after pairing the phone for the first time it should have asked you if you'd like to authorize your phone for Mercedes Me. I actually had to reconfirm this the other day when I sent a destination to the car while I was already in it and the car was running. This is for the exchange of data via Bluetooth in the background.

Just to follow up on this again...the problem resurfaced today.

Even with no cell phone in the car, COMAND keeps saying "External address X has been saved in previous destinations. Would you like to start navigation? Yes/No"

Rebooting doesn't help, and I'm mystified. Any chance you have any other ideas? I'm thinking maybe I need to do a hard reset, but A) I'm not sure how that's done, and B) I'm never eager to do factory resets.

That sounds like the destination was sent multiple times for some reason. I'm wondering if it's just stuck delivering the queue. I would probably restart my phone first, just to make sure the phone is not for some reason sending it in the background repeatedly. Then you can try to deactivate all the Mercedes Me services and reactivate them again. Hopefully that's clearing whatever state it's stuck in currently. There's no specific service for the Send2Benz feature, so I'm not sure under what service it falls, but on the portal and in the app there's an option to deactivate/activate all services. That should reprovision all your services and as said hopefully clear it up.

Thanks much for the good ideas. I'd completely uninstalled the Mercedes apps from my phone, and left it at home, so I'm sure that variable has been removed. I didn't see any service specifically related to Mercedes.me on the website, but I've turned off "Mercedes Apps" and will see if that does anything tomorrow. Failing all else I guess I'll do a factory reset. I just hope it doesn't wipe all my map region data. lol Thanks again for the assist.
