Family member backed into my '18 C63S, Need advice

Hey guys, need some advice here as I've never been in a situation like this.

I'm trying to figure out the best route for getting this fixed,

I've been quoted ~$4,700 to replace hood, front bumper, grill, emblem, etc. from the MB dealer I purchased the car from.

and I've been quoted ~$2,000 to attempt to repair the hood and bumper as well as repaint from a 3rd party collision center.

I understand there's always a mark up at the dealer, but do you guys think it's better to over-pay for the peace of mind that the car will be restored properly?
I have no experience with taking any car anywhere for collision repair.

Any information/opinions are appreciated.

Your dealership most likely contracts out body work. Find out who they contract out to and get a quote directly from them. To get it repaired properly you wanna use a Mercedes certified collision center. I believe you can even submit it through the Mercedes me app and they put you in touch with the nearest certified collision center. MB dealerships usually don't have their own collision centers, but BMW for example does and they are pretty much certified to repair all German brands. I had my Audi repaired at one of the BMW collision centers in my area and they also are a certified and factory trained XPEL installer, so they installed the PPF on my C63. That's where I would take my car if it needed repairs.

As Superswiss said, the dealer can point you to a certified collision repairs for Mercedes.

Don't be too downhearted man, these things happen. She doesn't look too bad at all. It'll be repaired and back on the road again soon.

By the way, is your family member going to help out with the bill? Or will you be doing the repairs yourself?

Thanks for the reply! My quote is from an Autonation collision center, which is MB certified. I think i'll try the Mercedes me app anyways. I don't think it would hurt to get a few more quotes. Thanks for your time.

Hey, I appreciate the response. Yes, my family member is definitely going to be helping out with the bill. I will be pitching in partially since it's going to be a pricey repair. Thank you for your time.

Did the family member have insurance ? you could do as a comp claim, or a full coverage claim.. just pay the deductible... (that's what insurance is for and why we pay for it.. )
It was an accident I am sure, and stuff happens :-)

Just a piece of advice I would - avoid using any repair shop (like MB authorized body shops) who may report that damage and it shows on your Carfax, Buy OEM parts or have them buy OEM parts and use an indy shop. If you are handy, you can also replace bumper and hood yourself, its not that hard. I sure would not go through MB, have anybody file an insurance claim.

If you could share your location, I'm sure a member could refer you to a shop that would work well for you.

I manage a certified collision center in MA. That hood should not be repaired, the bumper is toast and I guarantee once they dig into it they will find several other parts. Anyone doing this for under $5k is cutting some massive corners. Feel free to message me with any questions you may still have unanswered.
