I'm rather puzzled why in the age of CarPlay/AA, Siri Eyes Free and Text Message integration in COMAND one even still needs/wants an ugly phone holder in the car. My phone stays out of sight when I'm in the car. If I get a text message I read it on the cars display and reply using Siri (long press of the steering wheel voice control button) and when I want to use an app for driving I plug it in, close the cover and use CarPlay.
However, back when I still had phone holders I used ProClip (https://www.proclipusa.com/). Best OEM looking and integrated phone holders there are. They have custom mounts for pretty much every car.
On another note, is that an old school garage door remote I'm seeing in front of the cup holders? Homelink not working for you?

Runs on CarPlay or Android Auto just fiine. Why would I want to run it on a tiny screen when I can have it up on the nice center widescreen at eye level?

It does if you have the Smartphone Integration package which was an option at the time. I was mainly responding to OP who has a FL as do I. The PFL is from a different time, but I'd probably consider retrofitting CarPlay/AA with an aftermarket unit before installing a cell phone mount.
I have a Dumb Phone...no Smart Phone integration package in my 2018 for my iPhone. My Mercedes blue tooth won't even recognize my contacts list on my iPhone7.

Uff, iPhone7? Btw, I also have PFL and I am in process of integrating CarPlay..just need to overcome some unrelated install obstacles (in another thread).

I did my car play integrations as well.. my center was a b!tch to get off, but it came off :-) let me know if you need assistance after..
dont want to hijack this thread, but you can get them starting @300+ depending on which one, but they all pretty much from same factory and work the same.
I saw some jackwagon trying to make a simple turn in a parking lot......he was holding a phone and looked like a complete ******........I'd recommend having the phone holder in the trunk and waiting until you reach your destination But hey, I'm old fashioned.
I'm waiting for the AA wireless usb adapter I donated to kickstart. Hopefully they'll finally deliver... they're months behind, but not having to have to plug in my phone finally would be clutch.
