Selenite Gray Magno touch up

I got this rock chip driving my car home from purchasing it - it was so great to get that out of the way early - but now I'm tired of looking at it! Since I am NOT getting PPF or any other coating put on the car, does anyone have a reliable and proven touch up source for this matte flavor paint? Thanks!

No touch-up paint is ever perfect, I assume a touch-up of mango paint will turn out equally imperfect. From a 3-foot rule perspective, I am sure simply using touch-up paint as directed will be far less noticeable.

Are you leasing , thus bypassing the PPF
If not I would suggest at least the hood PPF , regardless with not protection ... you will encounter Rocks , etc

the Protection pays off , once you drive off.. trust me.

if you dont want to ppf you might as well leave it. It will just happen again. Unless you want to keep filling in each defect.

It's not a lease - and I'm not a fan of PPF or other coatings -- never have been, so I'll do some more research on touch up availability and see how it goes

I have magno paint and put some Xpel Stealth on the front bumper and you can't even tell it's there. Even if you don't like it, I'd suggest putting at least where I did. It gives you a lot more peace of mind when driving behind semis, driving through work zones, etc.

I was in the same boat as you prior to collection , the rock chip will turn into 10 more rocks chips.
The cost to touch up and time is not worth it.
As they say , do it once and be done with it ....peace of mind bro

lastly , you cant tell the car is protected.
anyhow , let us know how it turns out .. i would like to see the touch up

I hear ya - decisions decisions. My big gripe is "protected" doesn't necessarily mean protected. A rock traveling 60+ mph isn't getting stopped by PPF or anything else -- and then you have to fix the PPF. "Self healing PPF" is a pile of work with heating and treating to make it less visible after a strike. IMO, the best prevention is avoidance - which of course isn't the easiest thing to do.
What did we do before PPF, ceramic, etc. Hard to justify.

I agree. i also have no ppf on my car because a rock at highway speeds is not gonna be stopped by ppf. feels like a placebo scam just for the mental checkmark

I have a Brilliant Blue Magno, and I have decided Not to do PPF. I did ceramic coated it since it’s an outdoor car. Just easier to clean the pollens, bird poop, tree sap, etc… but if I get rock chips or whatever, I’d just chalk it up as part of life.

This what I love about the forum , sharing , life lesson , pros and cons ...etc
Hey, Its your kick *** ride. You have one of the colors that will show rock chips period.

I strong;y disagree.... The PPF is worth the money to protect a high end car.
I collected in Feb 2021 , PPF the next day
I have hit the canyons , drove around the OC and Newport Beach . the freeways ..granted I live in Cali.
To date , not one chip!
you can hear the rocks hit the car , I get home ... look at the bumper and nothing

Get the PPF , before I get it for you...

100% agree with this. I have PPF on my front. Just got back from an 8,000 mile road trip all over the country and didn't pick up any chips where I have PPF. There were tons of instances where I could hear small rocks, sand, etc. just peppering the front of the car at high speeds and the paint was completely fine.

You'd be surprised. PPF originated from the US military. It started out as Helicopter Tape to protect the rotor blades from being damaged by flying debris during landing and take-off during the Vietnam War. Helicopter Tape was sturdier and less malleable, but was adapted to today's car PPF. XPEL for example is pretty thick and stops many rock from reaching the paint. I've had PPF on my previous car for six years. It was damaged in parts from the rocks it stopped, but the paint was untouched. Matte paint in particular is difficult to fix. Paint matching is not easy.

yeah PPF is definitely worth it. My last car I decided not to and just went with Ceramic Front end looked like **** after a year. The C63 still looks flawless. there are some chips on my hood but that's above where my PPF stops. I'm going to go ahead and do the whole hood.

I know this is your opinion but you're wrong. Paint is not as tough as it used to be, the EPA and regulators have seen to that. PPF is your ONLY option to keep your front end safe. I have had my last two cars towed to my PPF guy, I won't even drive on a highway without it.

I had my E63S Magno paint covered with Xpel Stealth. I had the front from the windshield forward covered. Can’t tell it’s there.
BIG believer in PPF. We had my wifes Aston front covered with Suntek. Astons have really thin paint, at least this one does. She daily drives it. After about two years, The front looked sand blasted with multiple stone impacts. we pulled off the film and the paint was perfect. Sure, the cost of covering it twice was not cheap, but less hassle than a repaint.

I always hated PPF, no more. Now all my cars have it.

There is no right or wrong in this case.
Its all yours , mine , his , her .... personal preference and OCD

Djprov431 , I applaud you for going with that color.
My worse fears was maintenance and my OCD about color matching

Keep us posted on the color match or if you decided to just live with the rock chip

The beauty of opinions is that we're all allowed to have one and the beauty of options is just that -- there's always another option. If everyone liked and did the same thing it would really suck. Glad you had good results though!

Ppf is absolutely worth it. Got a full ppf on my graphite grey magno c63s coupe and it has done its job. I actually scrapped the driver side fender pretty badly when pulling into the garage and it looked like it got through and scratched up the paint but nope just had to replace the film for that fender section, the paint was perfectly preserved I was pleasantly surprised. At least ppf the front sections and fenders much less expensive than full ppf imo.

My parking sensors are full blast when I pull in / out of my garage - the car is just a wee bit wide - glad that the PPF worked out to your advantage!

As an update, I stopped in MB service and was able to order touch up paint for the Selenite Matte gray (it's roughly a nail polish size bottle with applicator)

Part # 000 986 26 50 7297

The "7297" is the paint code
