W205 C63S Coupe Brake Pads

Has anyone had experience with replacing OEM brake pads with a high quality set that produce less dust? I’m constantly cleaning my wheels. Mine has the red calipers. I know it’s a common issue and comes with having fantastic brakes but there must be a legitimate after market manufacturer someone can recommend.

Porterfield R4-S. Not zero break dust but much better and good performance. I tried EBC and was not happy.

Thanks, I’ve heard of these from another AMG owner. Did you replace them yourself or have it done professionally!

I suppose you can do it yourself but I have an Indy shop do it. They can do it while I wait for it. If I do it it would take me much longer. Shops are setup to do that all day, I am not.

if you order them dont forget you need to replace the brake wear sensor too (one per axle, $12 online).

You can’t have it both ways. Definitely much much less brake dust but it will be hard on the rotors and can cause rotor warpage. I used then on my past cars and cause warped rotors

Thanks, that’s very good feedback. I had to replace rotors and pads not long ago at a cost of nearly $4,000 so don’t want to damage rotors just to avoid the brake dust. Wheels are not the easiest to clean but maybe OEM is the best solution.

As they say, brake dust is the sign that your brakes are doing their job. As the pads wear, the material turns into dust. Less dust just means the pads are harder and wear slower, but instead you wear the rotors faster. Some people go with ceramic pads. They don't produce less dust, but the color is much lighter so you don't see the dust as much, but ceramic pads have other downsides like not having as much initial bite and not stopping so well when they are cold. I've long stopped obsessing with brake dust. Well, I never really did. I do have black wheels now, so the dust isn't as much of an issue.

Now about those $4000 for brakes, you can cut that in half at least by sourcing better aftermarket rotors from FCP Euro for example and have an indy install them instead of the dealership.

I second Porterfield R4S's less dust and I only notice a difference in initial bite being less than stock otherwise they do the job well. I however already need another set as I killed them at a track day last week!
