Would you let color/rims be a MAJOR factor

2020 AMG C63 that i found that hits everything i want ..... clean record, 8k miles.... local to me so i get the benefit of less taxes with trading my car in.

BUT it is selenite grey metallic and the 5-spoke wheels (which i think are ugly AF) - i can get new rims but im prolly looking 4-5k

What would you all do?

It's quite hard to find a second hand car with the exact specs u want. If it has everything that I wanted except for exterior colour (unless it's a random colour) and wheels I would most likely buy it.
Like u said u can always spend on new wheels and colour u can always wrap as well.

100% yes. personally I cannot stand a grey car or black wheels and have turned away from several in my quest to find a 2021 replacement for my 2018 that is running out. I finally found one inbound currently and put a deposit on it, but it has the upgraded black wheels. So the same day I put a deposit on the car I ordered a set of Vossen HF5 wheels for it, in silver satin.

I get it that the current trend is black wheels and grey cars, but it is just not for me personally.

Color is a preference but I think most people have a liking to those colors you like. Selenite grey is a nice color. I personally like the matte colors especially the graphite grey. I would not get black because it doesn’t show the car details well and almost looks similar to C300.
in regards to rim, this is very important. Unless you plan on buying aftermarket rims which probably costs at least $4k for decent ones, I would buy the car with the wheels I like. For me it’s the black wheels that comes optional on c63.

Yeah matte doesn't come in the Sedan - and i would def buy those black rims.

I could sell the ones that come on the car for like $2k im guessing? So with labor probably a 2k-2.5k add - which isn't bad

Another thought, you could always have the car wrapped whatever color you want.

Sounds like colour shouldn't be too much of a concern as Selenite is one of your four acceptable colours. Personally, don't mind selenite grey.

One thing to remember about the wheels, the black forged AMG wheels are a $1,750 option from the factory. If you were to order your vehicle, would you have gone with that option or put the $1,750 towards a set of aftermarket wheels? I personally would have gone with a set of aftermarket wheels.

I'm not sure how you plan using your vehicle, but if you plan on tracking you could use the factory wheels to mount a set of track specific tires. That is what i've done in the past.

Can be done for less 3'ish is a good price. Just saying it's an option if you love the car and it ticks all the boxes but not the color

Personally not a fan of these rims, plus no multibeam headlights would be a dealbreaker for me but I’m not the one buying.
I know inventory is very thin so I get it.

Color is important as you can’t change it (wrap is just a cover up).
Wheels can always be changed ..but doubt you can sell those standard rims for what you are looking for. Nobody wants them and the people who do will not pay that price.

Wheels wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, easily changed and typically you can at least recover some of the costs by selling them down the line. I've seen quite a few examples of the C63 sedan forged cross spoke wheels sell for $2 - $3K, if you can transfer over the tires from the 5 spokes (I agree with you, they're pretty hideous) then thats not too great an expense, especially if you can get a few bucks for your 5 spokes after removing them. If I didn't like the color of the car, though, that would be a deal breaker. As some have suggested you can always wrap...but its expensive/temporary and personally I'd want the actual base color of my car to be something I like and enjoy.

2019 C63S Coupe
My 2019 C63S coupe came with the AMG forged Cross Spoke Wheels -Black. (photo). Which I really like. When it came time to install winter tires the MB Dealership had only one option that being the 5 spoke Gray 19" rims which I needed to purchased. (Photo below). I did not like the look of this rim Gray 5 spoke) for my Iridium Silver and did not want to see it every day for the 4 months or so of with the winter tires. I was getting too many answers for After market winter rims So I just had the winter tires installed early/late December till early April on the Cross Spoke Black. I felt I made a good choice for me. See the comparison photos below, the AMG forged Cross Spoke wheels black look so much better IMO.

Yeah it's a large difference

This car is a really good deal - so even if i pay 4k for rims and only get 1-2k for mine - i'm in it for less than 75 and it's practically new + good trade value on my car

I’m in the same boat. I have a deposit down on 2021 coupe. It has all the options and color I want (Diamond White). Only problem is it has the Night Package which I don’t care for and the black cross spoke wheels. I can live with the night package but I just don’t like black rims especially on a white car. So I’m either going to powder coat them silver satin, or swap them with aftermarket rims. Heck I might even plasti dip them silver as I could always return them to stock that way. My other option was to order a 2022 with the exact specs I wanted but risk waiting 3-6 months and not even have the car show up with all the options I pick given all the supply chain issues. That’s why I went with the 2021 as it’s already built and on its way here.

Do you mind sharing what offset you went with on the Vossens? I’m guessing the sedan rims are not the same specs as the coupe?

That’s true, and wrap can be a nightmare to peel off if you live in hot weather and your car is in the sun for extended periods of time. It can get baked on to the paint and be almost impossible to remove. Rims on the other hand is a much easier fix.

RavenM6, I had reached out to Vossen directly and here is what they sent me:

HF5-19X850+26-F
HF5-19X950+06-D

looking at the description provided in the sales order that breaks down to a 19 x 8.5 +26 flat front and a 19 x 9.5 +06 deep rear wheel

Those particular wheels were quoted at $549 each direct from Vossen and have a 5-6 week lead time.

These are pretty "skinny" for a nice flash coupe look...and the rear offset for sure is entirely wrong. Maybe it should read 56 and not 06?

I could be reading the invoice wrong as that is the item #. The description on the rears is ET +6 to +52, but the item name is listed as +06.

I specifically asked for a replacement set for a 2021 C63 S Sedan, not looking to change my sizing on the car.
