I Swapped Stock the Tires with PS 4S 305 R / 265 F

I decided to ditch the stock tires in favor of wider Michelin's as I wasn't a big fan of the stretched look. (I'll be selling the stock tires with 75 miles on them if anyone's interested btw). I went with Michelin PS 4S 305/30/20 R and 265/35/19 F. They fit perfect, no rubbing and I can notice the extra grip. The wide 305's in the rear really make the stance more aggressive than it already was, I really like how the tires transformed the look.

I ceramic coated the C63s with Armor Shield IX. I'm extremely impressed with how well this product works!

Rear Michelin PS 4S 305/30/20

The 2 500hp beasts next to each other!

For reference, those are Michelin PSS 295/30/20's on the M6.

I think most people who went with 305 rear has 275 front for 20mm increase all around.
Why did you decide to go with 265?

275F would have been the ideal tire for the front/rear ratio going with 305’s in the back. But from everything I read, 265 is the widest you can go in the front safely without rubbing issues on a stock setup without spacers.

I'm on stock suspension, wheels and no spacers and went with 275s up front to go with the 305s in the rear. Fit just fine with no rubbing at all.

That’s good to know. I might swap them out for 275’s then. What tire pressure are you running?

That's what I'm running! I'll see if my tire shop / installer can take these back (obviously I'll take a bit of a loss...he's a really good friend of mine) and I'll order 275's.

Was there an option to go 265 and 295 respectively?

ya i saw them im wanting to do 295 or 305 in the rears but i dont think it looks good on a car like this when it looks like the whole tire top to bottom is sticking out the wheel well. doesnt look like that much in your pics but those may not be all angles.

Here is what a 305 looks on the rear of my coupe with stock suspension and the forged wheels. Hope that helps.

Sounds the same, I can't tell any different than the stock inside the cabin.

The wheels on the BMW... I was a member of the BMWCCA for 27 years. That befor eI discoverd MB and Porsche. They remind me of AC Schnitzer wheels from years ago:

Just saw your post, Bruce. Yes they’re staggered 20” AC Schnitzer Type IV rims, same ones in your link… which were released by Schnitzer around 2005-2006 when the S85 engines first came out. I still get frequent compliments on them

So, to make sure I understand correctly, running 275/35/19 up front and 305/30/20 rears, with the forged wheels that require running 44psi up front and 40psi on the rears... this will fit well. No rubbing at full wheel lock, etc.?

Looks good, glad it does not poke past the fender. I am about to go to 265/35-19 front and 305/30-19 on forged wheels for track use. Unfortunately, Eagle Supercar 3 is not made in 275/35-19.

Would the 265's up front and 305's in the rear still fit without rubbing if I used lowering springs that lower ride height by 0.75 - 1.00 inches front and back? Like with H&R lowering springs, or a coilover kit?

On my stock suspension, there’s a good 1.5” clearance between the tire and fender lip on both front and rear. If you lower .75” you’ll still be left with .75” clearance and that should still be enough to prevent rubbing. If you lower 1”, that .5” might still be good but you’d be cutting it awfully close.

I just got a C63s coupe with the 19/20 setup and am going to change the tyres.

Was thinking to go 265/35 F and 295/30 R. Is this the best option or do people go with 305?

Grip vs Unsprung weight trade off?

Thanks

If I had to do it over, I probably would’ve gone with 275’s in the front instead of 265’s. The reason I didn’t is because I heard 275’s rub in the front, but later learned that was due to over-inflated tires. IMO, Michelin PS4 305R / 275F is the way to go. The grip is night and day with the rear 305’s compared to stock 285’s so I’d say it’s well worth the unsprung weight trade off.

This I can't say for sure. From all the research I did, there were 2 camps. One claimed 275's rubbed, the other said no rubbing whatsoever. The discrepancy seemed to be those that rubbed were running high PSI's in the front (40+) instead of the recommended amount (mid 30's). I can say that I have zero issues with PS4's 265/35/19's in the front with 305/30/20 in the rear. I run 34 in the front and 36 in the rear.
