NTG5 CARPLAY + CODING?

Hi guys just bought a 2015 c63 premium today and im wondering if its possible to get carplay on my system NTG5 or alternatively update the maps. Also is it possible to do coding to unlock features or set preferences just like vag.com?

That is a full upgrade to the NTG v5.5 system with native CarPlay. It's a legit option but extremely pricey.

If you want to leverage your current NTG 5.0 system (and not drop $4k+), you can add wireless ACP and Android Auto functionality via a piggyback module like this one offered by DMP (can't share the link...MBWorld blocks).

I'll likely go through DMP when I add CarPlay. DMP has great customer service & install instructions, so if you're going to DIY, this is the route I'd recommend. I haven't done this type of install in my w205 yet but have on other platforms (i.e. e9X m3) and it was very straightforward.

Once you have ACP/AA, it's very hard to go back to native/OEM software.

Couple hundred bucks and an hour installation time (I took my time and routed everything nicely)

Those that have gone the route of a piggyback module - how have you found the reliability of AA/Carplay, especially wireless? Any bugs in the unit e.g. bluetooth connectivity / freezing up etc? My only needs are Waze + Spotify and I'm looking for this solution so I don't have to have my phone mounted.

In my experience across a few units, they work flawlessly. They’re all very similar and likely manufactured out East. Most of the units look the same, have similar cables/wiring. The main difference is the firmware and settings UI.

The sole apps I used were Spotify and Waze, worked just as expected with a very minor response time delay.

what do you mean by “piggy back”module ??
piggy back in terms of computers etc , thats embedding a chip on top of another and doing some manual mods to the system.

why would anyone do that , when for 300.00 you have a plug and play option.

i have not had 1 single issue with mine, wireless / bluetooth all work effortlessly.

waze , music , video all are amazing

I said piggyback but meant what you said - the P&P module.

Yeah the P&P module is also what I meant! Good to hear positive feedback from you guys. I installed a Joying android based head unit in another car (https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-10...o-carplay.html) and it's bit crap tbh. The UI isn't great and while I had some success with wired android auto, wireless AA has been a nightmare (constantly disconnecting), to the point where it's now disrupting wired AA. I spent a fair bit of time trying different launchers and sprung for the paid version of Head Unit Reloaded but even that is a little sketchy at best.
Ultimately if I'm going to the expense of a $4-500 unit for my W205 then I really want to ensure reliable operation - i.e. once it's set up, you get reliable AA (preferably wireless if possible)

I just changed out the whole screen to a 12.5 touch screen thats andriod based but does Apple carplay also. Love it. Can now have waze up and running whilst driving. Also can watch movies too.

Which unit did you get? Do you have a link? There's a few out there.

I was gojng to do this but I'm not so sure I don't like have andriod as their clunky and two systems will be confusing to use, I do like the screen size and the ability to use waze.

Most cannot be just "updated for carplay , if they came without, and more so on the PFL"
That sucks that yours was "off" or had a gremlin , I know over 20 people that have the Road Top, and it works flawless, not sure why everything thinks you have to plug your phones in with cable <- because you dont !

Now, these units are mass produced, and of course QA issues arise , but the support I got from Road Top when I asked for the firmware updates was always same day, and they send me what I needed.
(updated my devices to current iOS, and saw that waze was lagging a few seconds longer to load, so I asked and they had an update)
Very simple to install update and onward we go.

I may need to simply check for updated firmware. Overall pretty happy with it, just some minor quirks
- Airplay activation is finnicky
- Occasional auto reset of system
- Pick-up and Hang-up sometimes doesn't work from the screen - I would need to use the phone.

Are you able to use airplay plugged in? Or is it only wireless?

Both.. which ever I prefer... but I to be honest, I never plugged it in at all.. I only use all functions via wireless (wifi/BT)
Calls are clear, audio is good...
Had to adjust the volume in the settings of the RoadTop to up alittle for audio as the alerts from Waze etc were much louder then the audio.

That was the extent of me having to make changes

Great! I actually ran the USB drive port to the center console (cut out a rectangular portion to pass thru the cable). I use the wired carplay when I'm in the car for long periods, as it seems the sounds quality is a bit better (althought it could be in my mind).

Is this the firmware for the command or the carplay system?
