I also have never seen any other C63 with that section melted or marked. I have just checked through dozens of pics on a Mercedes tuners social media and none of the photos that have C63's with bonnet up displays that mark.

Don't worry about it mate it looks like someone's done it by accident like previous owner as nothing near that spot could cause that. The only two things near there (when the bonnet is shut) is the intake return hose clip and the oil cap which cannot cause that.

*****Hey. Check for a leak or split hose at the marked up area in the 2nd pic. A split or loose turbo hose here at the side or bottom will funnel very very hot air through the gap surrounding the oil filler cap. You will have to remove that sides air cleaner cover to inspect properly. Check for oily residue or carbon or other abnormal tracking. You will need to squeeze the hose a bit sometimes to see the split and it only manifests itself under boost sometimes. When in doubt, pull it off, check it carefully from the inside for tears and replace if needed. An infrared pyrometer focused on that side with the hood up and the engine revving a bit can also sometimes indicate a problem - you will see a significant boost in temperature on that side if there is a leak. Anyway, good luck with it.

Anyone consider a broken or loose motor mount? Doesn't the engine torque from the left (driver's side) upward? Anyone else think this might be it?

*****I guess anything is possible, but the damage to the hoodliner seems heat based versus a mechanical puncture as from a loose motor mount. The area with the air cleaner and oil fill cap is all plastic and that material does not lend itself well to impact against something hard like a hood - it would most likely break or at least be noticeably moved downwards. That plastic is also highly heat resistant and does not hold heat well like metal would - the damage seems heat related versus mechanical damage. I'd be more inclined to check the turbo hose area for tears or having gotten loose enough to not be fully engaged and allowing hot turbo gases out and upwards.

Motor mount check is easy enough though. Rev the motor a bit in park, and see if it flops around - or preferably and very very carefully with the hood up and nothing critical in front of the car, put the car in drive and hold the brakes and rev a little bit. A broken motor mount will show itself clearly as the motor will flop upwards quite a bit. There are safety tabs on the mounts but the movement is NOT subtle.

Whatever the reason for the damage to the hood liner, it's source should be fixed for sure.

Never thought of that. It's possible. We've seen stuff like that before. On the Macan Forum, one guy pulled off the big engine cover and found a rat's nest underneath.

A thought: check the oil filler cap's rubber gasket, to make sure the crankcase isn't venting hot oil or oil vapor there around the cap and deteriorating/melting the liner above.
