Thank you NY pothole

Took the car round trip NC to NY - besides two more window chips, I managed to damage both driver side wheels -- the rear got the worst of it due to the lower air pressure - at the time I hit this beauty of a pothole tire pressure was at 44 psi front 39 psi rear - never saw the pothole it due to downpouring rain, hit hard enough the sunglass case opened above the mirror. I've stopped at two 'wheel repair shops' both of which said "we can fix it, and it'll be straight, but it won't look like new" (due to the heat required and metal to metal hydraulic rams needed to push this back) I of course had to try on my own -- torch and rubber mallet in hand - they didn't budge On the positive side, no vibration or anomaly that I can detect, and I ran the speed up pretty high - I'll likely just file an insurance claim and replace. I have to admit, these are not my most favorite wheels, that rolled edge is just a magnet for damage.

Ny is such a dumpster fire in general. Here’s the link to get reimbursed

Originally being from NY I didn't even know this form existed -- unfortunately it looks like I'm a month too early
"Per Highway Law § 58, the state shall not be liable for damages suffered by any person from defects in state highways, except between the first day of May and the fifteenth day of November, subject to limitations pursuant to the Court of Claims Act § 8."

I filed an insurance claim and talked to my local MB dealer - there is one rear rim available in the county - the front is $2266 and the rear is $2482 + tax and mounting
Maybe it's a good time to consider different wheels?

Can the MB DEALERSHIP send both out for repair? I purchased the Tire/Wheel package and any issue I had with the Wheels the Dealership would supply a loaner and usually need the 3-5 days for repair.

I have an appt for my first A service this week - I have pre-paid maintenance however not the tire / wheel coverage that I recall. I'm sure we'll get it sorted - luckily it's more visual than mechanical damage.

Right. I'm on my 3rd set of these RXC wheels.

That thread is over here btw op: Warning C63 coupe owners on optional RXC forged wheels but seeing as you were running 44psi fronts you must've hit a real crater.

Got any pics of that pothole man?

It was downpouring rain - I never saw the hole and didn't stop as the conditions were terrible -- I'll have MB give it a good look during my appt. this week. That's how it goes, no biggie

*****There are sections here in Washington, D.C. that have some brutal potholes, especially after the Winter snows and all of the salt and other chemicals they put down. I've seen cars with broken wheels and dual flats *many* times here due to potholes. especially during a rainstorm when you can't see anything. Absolutely sucks.

With AMG RXC forged lightweight wheels, its recommended to have 44 PSI FRONT and 39 PSI REARS (I've done the same to mine) to stop it from getting damaged due to pot holes..

Refer to https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...psi-tyres.html

not sure about that. I'm in south west fl and we got some of the best roads in the country as in it's pretty rare to see a pothole. I've lived in the midwest before & trust me we are way better off. The majority of the roads up north is what I'd like to described as a war zone

Well I'm at MB (now) getting the two new wheels installed and have a decision to make -- $235 core charge on each wheel if I want to keep them -- ya'll think it's worth hanging onto them, maybe fixing / selling or does this sound like I should just move along.

*****Take the core charge. You'll thank me. You will never be able to fix that broken/bent wheel and make it look right, nor sell it. Cut your losses, and save yourself some garage space by not having extra wheels that have been damaged just laying around hoping you will be able to sell them for $$$ bucks down the line or whatever.
