I agree. Porsche style, fit, finish is better than Tesla. But for the money, Tesla offers better straight line performance compared to Porsche EVs.

I'd trade straight line performance anyday for Pcars and if it meant not supporting that kook Musky Our society isn't ready to go fossil fuel free, to mars or any of his other half baked idea's. I've owned 2 Pcars in my day too, and will have another one in the years to come

I agree in the future other manufacturers will catch up to Tesla’s performance but also by then Tesla should be ahead of the curve and should have better performance.
Im very far from being Tesla fanboy and still prefer ICE over EV.
Not quite sure where you heard that from -- the Taycan is widely available for order in Canada & US. It's also set a faster lap time around Nurburgring then Tesla.

The gap from traditional car manufacturers will start to widen with regards to Tesla. Porsche & Mercedes have a hell of a lot more money to throw around then Tesla.

The Taycan that set the record was equipped with the Germany only Performance kit:

The performance kit includes 21-inch RS-Spyder-design wheels with road-approved, Pirelli P Zero Corsa sports tyres that are now available for the Taycan. Their tyre compound is similar to that of racing tyres. Another element of the performance kit is a software update to the Porsche 4D Chassis Control so that it works in harmony with the sports tyres. The system analyses and synchronises all the chassis systems of the Taycan in real time. “In the past, only thoroughbred super sports cars got into the 7:33 range,” says Kern. “With the new performance kit I was able to push even harder, and the car was even more precise and agile to boot.”

Performance kit by Porsche Tequipment

The performance kit is offered through Porsche Tequipment. It is currently only available in Germany and only for the 2023 model year Taycan Turbo S sports sedan. Production of these cars started in late July 2022, while the performance kit itself is expected to be available from the end of the year. The plan is for the retrofit to be carried out after initial delivery, in the Porsche workshops in Zuffenhausen. Transport to and from the factory is included, as is the individual vehicle approval and registration of the Taycan.

*****No argument from me. You can't throw a rock in my area and not hit some dude in a Tesla. (Don't throw rocks at Tesla's please... Just a figure of speech.)

ps... Don't throw rocks at Porsche's either. They are very nice cars and not all of their owners are old, bald and possibly suffering from a variety of syndromes...

(I'm kidding!!! Please don't throw rocks at ME!!!)

Can you deal with the insanely poor build quality of a tesla? the panel gaps, the battery issues, the insane amount of loose plastic in the car? pay soo much for a tesla when you could get a 911instead.. Like how is tesla even an option at over 130k? Tons of amazing cars in that price range and in the future people will want your 63 or a 911 wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than a tesla.

Tesla makes a POS Car I would never own one. They are cheaply made car and do not handle and the brakes are horrific. As a couple of people suggested here, if you want to go electric then I would suggest the Porsche Taycan or an Audi e-tron GT.

And this was not because Tesla being brilliant or something. I think it was Toyota basically letting them do the experiments and then basically choose the path forward. With Lexus and Toyotas getting solidstate batteries soon, Tesla's days of being EV leaders are numbered.

if it wasn’t for tesla we would be getting gm trash type bev. 0-60 in 9 seconds. They set a bar that enthusiasts should appreciate.

tesla also built out a charging network largely by themselves without govt help. I dont think tax dollars should be spent on building out charging networks.

toyota bet on hydrogen and hybrids. One of which seems like a good bet at this time.

Let me start by saying that I have no interest in buying an EV at this time. Sound and weight play a big role in driving satisfaction for me. As for Tesla, I was never a fan of their fit and finish, but they have improved over the years. I don't claim to be an expert on Tesla, but it seems to me that they would say that their differentiation is in their manufacturing process and their vertical integration. They are a manufacturer and a software company that happens to make cars. I believe they make much more margin per car than traditional players and since they will make their own batteries, they can really hit others vendors on the price side. They sell insurance based on how people drive as they own that data. I see them having a much better financial model for years. I agree that traditional vendors will be delivering cool cars with more ability to option it your way, but they have yet to hit any scale on delivery. Try to get an EV from anyone today other than Tesla. Good luck. That won't change for a while and if Tesla does take the lion share of profits from the industry, what is the get well plan for the traditional players? They will be selling fewer cars and make less per car. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I've seen from folks who follow this closely.

They did jump start the EV market, but they still make crap cars. There is no disputing that.

I love my AMG but I certainly have more interior rattles over the years with several AMGs than with any of the Tesla's I've owned.

That being said, the AMGs have had much nicer interiors
